I put the story on in the Treliving thread. He wouldn’t even talk to Calgary about an extension right up until the TDL morning. He talked to Vegas and agreed to terms. Treliving can’t make his offer final until he has Stone agreeing to terms, and he wouldn’t even talk to them.

It’s pretty sad, because Van is 1 game below 500. Flames are 4. Even if they run the tables against Mtl and feel good, they are still going to be 1 game below .500

Then those last 4 games vs Van are very meaningful

Totally. I’d be willing to bet they win a playoff round long before the Flames do again. And their owner is likely the worst in pro sports. What does that say about this organization?

I’d pay real money for Pierre Dorion to be our GM. How is we fair we got stuck with the worst Tkachuk AND the worst GM?

It’s not talent. It’s desire and effort. My god, is it ever obvious too.

Gaudreau Lindholm Tkachuk Monahan... they don’t lack talent. But man when Darryl Sutter can’t even get you going? That’s on you. That’s a new level of pathetic. I would be asking these guys if they have any- literally any- self respect?

You can’t win a cup with people that don’t want it bad enough. You’ll never, ever- win a cup with people like that. That’s an intangible tough thing to read. Luckily it’s easy to read with this group.

The past 2 games have made it glaringly obvious (if it wasn't already). This team lacks players who can bury their chances and put the puck in the back of the net. Simply put this team lacks talent.

Chucky has been a big disappointment this year, and (imo) one of the biggest reasons for the lack of team results this year.

3 games coming up against the Habs. Anything short of 3 regulation wins, and it'll be time to focus squarely on improving this year's draft pick...

No longer untouchable to me.

In fact, rising on my list of 'core' players I would deal.

I have no reason to keep any player from this team. If you get great return just sell all of them. Start from 0. If you get expiring salary dump and a blue chip prospect or draft pick 2022 for these players lets trade all.

I just want the Flames to draft top-8.

I’ve read everything that’s available, watched what’s available and the top group seems to be:

Power, Edvinsson, Brandt, Beniers, Johnson, Hughes, Eklund, and Guenther.

Some definitely better than others, but this seems to be the top 8. There’s the goalie Wallstedt as well. The crapshoot really kicks off after that grouping.

Let me guess Tre will tinker around the edges move one core piece and call it a day. The stank will remain.

Everyone would. Ottawa is better than Calgary today. Go look at their records over the course of the year and see who is getting better and who is getting worse. Ottawa is better now. That’s why Calgary floating around all night makes no g d sense.

I don’t blame him. As much as I am a Flames fan, I’d choose Vegas over Calgary in a heartbeat or almost any other location in the NHL, other than Edmonton, Ottawa or Buffalo.

This is a game where you'd expect Gaudreau and Markstrom to help you overcome a club like Ottawa.

Pretty disappointed in those two tonight. Johnny just does so much airheaded ####e when he's not feeling it, which is more than half the time these days.

I miss that BC eagles kid that lit every league and tournament on fire, busy dodging guys taking the puck to the net than actively avoiding close contact on the perimeter like a scared, washed up dwarf.

Gaudreau lacks talent. He's undersized, and not "mangiapane" undersized but legitimately undersized.

Lindholm lacks talent. He's not a play-driver even at the level of Backlund. He's a very north-south player and you need your top line center to be shiftier and make more plays through the middle.

Tkachuk and Monahan both lack the basic foot speed and edgework of the vast majority of top six forwards in the NHL. They're basically playing every game with a major handicap. You can toss a guy like Rasmus Andersson into that mix too.

Time to shut a bunch of players down for the season. Sit Markstrom, Gaudreau, Monahan, get some surgeries if any are needed. Slide slowly down into the bottom of the league and draft 5th-8thish.

To be honest, flames would love to trade roster, prospects, with ANY team in Canada. Flames are trending down, have the least number of exciting youth or prospects.

Brad treliving is a hell of a gm. Should be really proud of what he's put together here.

Serious question, can anyone name 1 game this season that Tkachuk was the most impactful player in a positive manner?

Well, it’s a bit of both. Those guys have talent, but not at the highest level. The closest is Gaudreau, but he is limited by size and, for a small guy, he isn’t blazing fast (and no longer as elusive). But they also lack drive. Lindholm has it in spurts. Monahan seems like he wants to be better but he’s the least talented of the bunch. Tkachuk wants to win but he seems a little stubborn in his habits and not willing to play a simpler and more effective game. Put Lucic’s head in any of those guys bodies and you have a real player.
