All I can get

Usually with the CHL Import Draft teams are fairly confident they'll successfully entice the their pick to come over -- based on inside information.
A year in Junior its not the worst thing either. Some defensemen need more time to develop.

Kuznetsov signed as a 19-year-old and his CBA age during the first year of his contract will be 19. (He won't turn 20 until March 2022.) Based on this, his deal will slide for 2021-22 unless he plays 10 games in the NHL.

I just feel like Kuznetsov could play in Calgary by Darryl's 3rd season as coach. He's everything Darryl likes in a defenseman.
The quickest way to get him to the NHL is to play in Stockton for the coming season.

So, CapFriendly is wrong and he didn't already burn the first year of the contract (and his slide year) this season?

Pretty sure CapFriendly is correct and Kuznetsov used a slide last season.
He was assigned to Stockton from the Flames on the AHL transactions page meaning he was under NHL contract

That is what I was told when I asked.
Since he was signed after March 1, his ELC could have been signed with the first year being slated for 2021-22, which is seemingly what happened. (The majority of ELCs signed after March 1 each season are to begin the following season.)
Kuznetsov was already on the Flames' reserve list prior to signing, so he would've been able to be assigned to Stockton on an ATO without necessarily burning his ELC's first year.
Long story short, everything I've read via the CBA and been told indicates that 2021-22 is a slide year.

Yeah but they usually say signed to ATO, like in Rory Kerins case.
The AHL transactions page says loaned from Calgary for Kuznetsov.
And FWIW Puckpedia also has the contract sliding

Doubt it happens - and I do believe the AHL is his next logical step and where I would prefer him, but it isn't absurd or crazy to suggest a year of CHL to increase his confidence and perhaps better explore his offensive abilities. As a rookie - and dependent on whom else the Flames bring in an how Mackey starts the year (NHL or AHL - Kylington too? Other signings?) - he probably wouldn't be getting top-pairing minutes off the bat, and he probably wouldn't see PP1 or PP2 (at least not to start). He would get that in the Q I bet.
I would view it as a good opportunity for Kuznetsov to have a greater opportunity to develop his offensive game.
Again, I would much prefer him in the AHL next season. Seems like the more logical step. I just don't think it is such an outlandish proposition for him to play a season in the Q, as there are definitely things that he could also learn from a year of junior, and probably beneficial to experience a different brand of hockey as well.

They have no sway over him nor can dictate to the Flames where he plays.

So your post was made up of whole cloth. You’re criticizing something that hasn’t happened.

Becoming more clear why the Sea Dogs drafted Kuznetsov, they put in a bid to host the 2022 Memorial Cup.

Probably hoping that at some point the Flames will release Kuznetsov to play in that tournament as the hosts get an automatic berth.

I didn't criticize anything except ComixZone's comment that the Flames would send a player they signed to a pro contract to junior for development purposes. Didn't criticize the Flames or a decision that has yet to be made, just pointed out that it doesn't make sense to sign a kid from college hockey, where he's playing against men in a very structured league, and then send him to a junior league where defense is an afterthought and he's playing against kids. If they thought he needed further non-professional development they would have been better leaving him where he was.

Except they have't sent him anywhere. You said "Would be one of the worst decisions related to player development I could imagine. Yup, sounds like the Flames."
Essentially you took the opportunity to slag the Flames based on something that was talked about by a poster but that they haven't done.

Except I didn't slag the team. I used sarcasm to point out that the Flames have never done such a thing (pull a player from men's league and send that player to junior league) and it was not something they would do. You know, like, "Warren Buffet is rumored to be throwing his money behind dogecoin. Would be one of the worst decisions related to investing I could imagine. Yup, sounds like Warren Buffet." In fact, my next post in the thread explained the context of the sarcasm. If you can't read something without green text, that's your problem. You could also follow the thread and see the commentary, which clearly explains the sarcasm. Yup, sounds like something a skilled lawyer would be able to handle. See what I did there counsellor?

Not on the Sea Dogs' training camp roster.
He's going pro I assume.
I thought it was a peculiar move by the Sea Dogs at the time.
