I’m actually not biased. Gio has slowed down, and anyone who’s read my posts knows I think he has to be exposed in the expansion draft. But he’s still a solid defenceman, better than a lot in this league.

But you may want to post about something other than him, instead of ridiculous stuff like stripping the C from long time captain who has been the best and most consistent player on the team for a long period, and has one more year on his contract, or saying he’s a 6-7 defenceman. Hatred for even a “mediocre” player is bizarre.

You are as bad as Love with Monahan, or that dude who hated Backlund.

With Backlund back they have to make a change. I don't think Backlund is going to the fourth line.

So to me that line was going to break up if you want to leave Tkachuk with Lindholm and Monahan with Gaudreau.

The Bennett vs Simon argument is a fair one though.

Plus how often have we seen morning skate lines that don't end up being what they go with either off the hop, or early in the game?

TBF, Lucic-Backlund-Mangiapane was the best line for the Flames for the previous 3 games before Backlund got hurt, and Dube is a lot like Mangiapane. So I understand that when you need to give Backlund 3rd line minutes at least (and maybe more if he’s matched against Petterson).

Simon over Bennett with Monahan is really odd though, unless he’s figuring that Monahan and Gaudreau were putting up more points with Simon, even though Bennett scored and Simon didn’t.

Tkachuk tries so many bizarre plays and passes that I think the only guy with the skill and awareness to actually complement him is Gaudreau. I’ve also wanted to see him on the right side for years.

I’d like to see:
Tkachuk - Backlund - Gaudreau
Mangiapane - Monahan - Lindholm
Lucic - Bennett - Dube

Ward is a bad coach if he actually goes forward with these lines - just unexplainable.

Honestly there are so many better alternatives to what he is doing here.

Option 1: Roll 4 lines instead of having a horrible 4th line

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Leivo
Gaudreau - Monahan - Simon
Mangiapane - Backlund - Nordstrom
Lucic - Bennett - Dube

Option 2: Load the top 9 V1

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
Lucic - Backlund - Dube
Nordstrom - Gawdin - Leivo

Option 3: Load the top 9 V2

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Nordstrom - Gawdin - Leivo

Honestly I guarantee he's just doing this because he like's what Froese has brought to the lineup and wants to keep him in.

Putting Bennett on the 4th line after the way he's been playing the last few games would be a complete joke. The guy plays well in a couple totally different situations and you reward him with wing time on the 4th line with two scrubs?

If this ends up being the case, no wonder why he wants out.
