What a loser team.

I'm done with the gm, the coach (who is not Even an nhl calibre coach), Giordano as captain.

Leivo u suck man, retire.

I know it's a harsh take for the first loss in 4 games, but this was such a classic Calgary Flames loss for this group.

It's crazy that the flames actually not make the playoffs in a year where 4 in the division make it. Only one word describes it... Losers.

The best was Hughson talking about what a great game it was all third period. Just a frantic pace and great hockey game and it was like watching paint dry and was one of the worst games I’ve seen in awhile. Even from a Canucks fan perspective no way that was entertaining. Just awful. Both teams had no care. Brutal.

You know how in years past we’ve all lamented how “we can’t blame the goalies”...well, we get an actual good goalie and we see the impact it makes.

“It’s not the coach”, it absolutely is the coach. We hire junk coaches just like we’ve signed/traded for junk goalies year after year before Markstrom was finally signed.

This coaching staff is the weakest part of this entire organization.

We hire the James Neals and Troy Brouwers of the coaching world. They are completely awful hires.

Brutal game from everyone but Markstrom tonight.

In the end I think the first was actually their best period, and that’s saying something since they were just okay that period too.

I'm sick of seeing this kind of stuff after a loss when the team didn't show any of that passion through the first 59:55.

Ward needs to take a practice and make the team work on just fundamentals-how to make a pass, how to accept a pass, how to protect the puck, etc....

I think tonight it was both on the coach and the players. Ward didn't do nearly to adjust to the Vancouver forecheck and neutral zone defensive strategy, and the players showed very little emotion and will to win the game.

No fancy stats needed to see that this was an ugly game. The actual shots on net will suffice here.

I thought that Vancouver was going to make a push this game again and come out hard, and I thought that the Flames would just have to weather the storm for a bit, but that continued all game. Just spurts of push back.

I actually wish Markstrom wasn't in net. If it wasn't for him, this would probably have been an embarrassing blowout, and perhaps then it would make this team wake up a bit.

All way below average games.

They deserved what they got in this one.

But yeah...it was the coaching telling them to turn the puck over in every area of the ice.

Laughable.
It's the coaching that could lead to them playing collectively awful because the system is being dismantled by the opposing team, and the coach makes no adjustments.

Not saying the players don't deserve blame, but coaches have a role for a reason, and DO make an impact in a team results. It's why when a team plays way beyond expectations, that the coach get a lot of credit. So if a team looks bad, they gotta share the blame also.

What an embarrassing effort. No urgency in their game at all, and so many brutal turnovers and stupid mistakes all over the ice.

Ward may not be a good coach but that effort is not on him.

Tkachuk mailing it in right now for some reason. Monahan’s attention to detail is just nowhere. And Gaudreau couldn’t gain the zone all night.

Just a brutal hockey game really.

Brutal. Some new faces, but same old Flames I guess. Hover around 500, first round exit.

I've often asked about coaching, systems, etc. Not sure I'm an educated enough person to judge about coaching. But at this point, I'm going to say, the coaching sucks. No noticeable adjustments, inapporpriate personnel usage, lack of timeouts, no real system that I can see, honestly. It's bad and the players are suffering under it.

The PP was embarrassing, and that "drop it to 13" zone entry might... might... work, if someone bothered to break back and give Gaudreau an outlet, but no, 4 guys at the blueline waiting, and the play is broken up. Every. Single. Time.

Officiating terrible. I mean, this is how games get out of hand, you let a slash go, you let an elbow go, now you gotta let the crosscheck go, pretty soon it's a brawl. Awful tonight. Not favoring one team or the other, just uniformally totally awful.

Did the Flames win any faceoffs? Yikes.

Were there ever 2 tape-to-tape passes on a breakout? No.

Bright spots: Mackey didn't stand out in a bad way, made a lot of simple plays. Markstrom excellent. And I really thought other than the screw-up which gave Hoglander a good chance (hit the post) Hanifin really looked good tonight.

Can’t wait for Wardo’s analysis of how he thought they “played well but a few mistakes cost them”

Get rid of this guy already, just utterly useless.

Roll 4 lines, don’t adapt, hit the blender once ever 3 game regression.
Leivo as the extra man, he’s surely going to turn the tide.

I say this as a Treliving fan: I think it’s time we start asking ourselves if he’s taken this team as far as he can take them. It’s been 7 years. A fresh set of eyes might not be a bad idea.

It's not as if the team has played poorly all season.

Ward has juggled lines in the past and has achieved some success.

A lack of heart and desire is a players problem. Especially when they don't show up for first periods or play 60 minutes of hockey.

Big issue for me is where is the leadership in the dressing room. Players willing to say what needs to be said when players are not playing up to standard. We don't have that.

Markstrom = awesome! Now on to the rest of the Flames:

Disgraceful and disgusting. Now on to Leivo:

11:45, 2:04pp, 0 shots -3, 12gp, 0g, 2a, -2 on the season.

Go away, Leivo and take Ward's crappy brand of hockey with you.

Tough circumstance with Backlund lost but so many passengers:
Gaudreau
Monahan
Tkachuk
Dube
Leivo

When it's going bad they seize up and stop making plays. So many blunders in their end and just weak play. Johnny one handed give away, Monahan tries a weak flip to no one.

PP is garbage.

They talk pregame and all they are is talk. Can not back it up on the ice. Seemingly every game they get a period where they only get 1-5 shots.

No ability or tactical attack to get shots. Out worked, out coached out classed.

TERRIBLE!

They'll make it, group loves just doing enough to be mediocre, but they will be out in 5 maybe 6 against the Leafs or Habs.
