I hope this game gets ugly because that's always fun.
That being said, the Jets are gonna be motivated and the Flames always suck in the opener. Gonna be a tough one to win

Used to be that way for years through the 80's.
Its how the BOA really became what it was....play those pricks 8 times a year and you develop real hate for the other teams players.

Yeah, but it's hockey and they have to keep doing it until it's tiring and annoying. So it's likely even though he "answered the bell" he'll have to do it again just cuz "the code" or something.

Im thinking you will see Nordstrom and Ryan at the top of that list...with Lindholm and Backlund still getting some minutes but hopefully cut way back from previous seasons.

Just speculating here, but there is lots of smoke around the Flames and PLD. If they are in fact discussing a trade, that explains the Flames' squeezing the cap as hard as they are (they would still be cap compliant with a 21 man roster, including Ryan, for instance).
I think it is probably pretty unanimous that Ryan is better than Nordstrom. And while the PK argument is valid, Ryan is also one of the best PKers on the team, so pulling him to get Nordstrom's PK abilities in the lineup, is not really a gain.
I think they are going to try and get by with Nordstrom for a while, in order to buy some cap relief, not because they think he is a better option.

It is for cap room though...which is why, at times, you will see one over the other.
I still think you see both in the lineup more often than not though.

I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised with what you get out of Nordstrom - especially in the playoffs. The guy is all grit/heart and lays it on the line every shift. Regular season he might not blow you away (why should he - he's a 4th liner), but come post-season, he's gonna be a fan favourite. Don't be too harsh on him early - you may just have a bit of crow to eat down the road...

Says that won’t be the case on shorter road trips going forward but wanted to be safe this time. No one up from the taxi squad for tonight’s game.
