I'll go $100 straight up on Calgary finishing ahead of Ottawa if you'd like? Let's do it for fun, I have trouble focusing on hockey these days.

It was a prediction thread yeah, I think that was the one. I’m not sure I care enough to run around searching for it, so don’t believe me I really don’t give a crap haha. Why is it silly even though the league was interrupted? That’s kind of a silly thing to say actually. I was right on track. It was some prediction thread similar to this last year, and I was basically mocked and ridiculed for whatever I said, just like this one. Looked like I was right on course just one month early. Also looks like the “insane” predictions I made were not so “insane” after all.
Anyway I think ultimately Dino is probably right. I’m not sure if Ottawa can beat Calgary. I’d need odds in my favour and I’d do it then probably. Say like $100 to me if Ottawa finishes higher than Calgary and $75 other way if not. Looks like jayswin is in maybe haha. Regardless I’m not sure it’ll be as far off as people think. Markstrom is a very huge add, so it does give me pause. If he can play to the level he has before Calgary will be good. I think Monahan especially and Gaudreau are both highly overrated here although they do sometimes appear whenever they feel like it. Gio not as effective without Brodie and a year older. Tkachuk... very good but not elite. Backlund older. I dunno... they didn’t really “fix” any of the problems that have really been around for 2 years now. But those are playoff problems to be fair.
Ottawa improved for sure. I can see Winnipeg and Vancouver tailing off.

You care so little that you brought it up twice more than a full year later in a new and unrelated thread. Yeah. Sure.

The Sens were awful at centre. Seriously, Colin White was their #1. When you’re rebuilding you still need to give your young players some decent veterans to play with so they aren’t being completely caved in every shift. A 2nd for a passable #2/3 C isn’t overpayment.

Haha this is still a bad bet in that I should probably get better odds and I don’t really like betting against the Flames but sure what the hell, I’ll do it for the fun of it.

lol that is your great prediction? Flames made the playoffs and the Oilers didn't FYI...If the play in round is the end of the regular season the Flames won more games

Hmmm. I don’t think so. If you feel like searching go nuts but specifically you were from what I recall one of the ones denouncing me. You always seem to be. I don’t care enough despite what Textcritic says. If you feel like searching go nuts. It was a pre-season prediction thread, and essentially I guessed pretty darn close to what happened. Not exactly, I recall looking back and there were a couple rankings wrong, nonetheless I was more or less right.

Haha okay honestly? Calgary will be better than Ottawa. No doubt about it. Well, obviously I think some doubt about it! Ottawa is literally a brand new team. It’s going to be VERY interesting.
I’m just saying Ottawa is very widely underestimated.
You know, the difference between a good NHL team and N average NHL team is just so minimal now.
I’m not sure it even really exists to be honest.
I’ll always be a diehard Flames fan, even if I plan to profit against them. My heart will always be worth more than some $100 bet. No question.

Not when you bet the worst team in Canada is better than the Flames, it's not.

Well I guess that’s my point, isn’t it? They aren’t the worst team in Canada.
Could be wrong and have been before for sure. We will see!

I think for Ottawa to finish ahead of Calgary, Stützle is gonna have to step in and immediately be better than any player on the Flames

This reminds me of the mindset Edmonton adopted with every new shiny 1st rounder. Stutzle is a bit of a whiner too, he would have made a good Oiler.

I think the gigantic difference here is that no one in Ottawa expects the Senators to finish anywhere but last in the Division, to say nothing of finishing ahead of the Flames. I suspect the only person who is so bullish on their chances is Mr. Coffee.

Dom from the athletic has been giving his predictions, based on his model, for the North division. He has Ottawa I think at 49, Vancouver and Jets at 61 points. The Sens would need a Flames like 2014 season with a lot going right to not finish in the bottom. That said, 6 wins doesn't seem like much, win one more than expected against the field. That only really gets them out of the basement though. For playoffs they probably need around 9 more wins than they are expected.
Murray will have to steal a bunch of games.

Just to add, this year the quirk with everyone playing each other so many times, each game is going to be weighted pretty heavy.

This is true. It is a full season's worth of four-point games. It's madness!
