If the guy comes back and puts up 25/25 (which would be a new career high in points at 26 years old) for the next 7 years, this contract will still be an overpayment.

Clarkson before signing in Toronto: 0.4 PPG, 0.23 GPG
Anderson before signing in Montreal: 0.43 PPG, 0.24 GPG
Clarkson was 28, Anderson is 26.

What a crappy deal, lol.
If Treliving traded a Domi caliber player for Josh Anderson and them signed him to that deal, that might have just been enough to make me finally give up.
He scored more than 20 goals and 30 points once and was on pace for less than 4 goals and 10 points last season. And yeah, I know he was coming off an injury, but that is part of the problem.

AAV is high but the term is scary ridiculous. For it to work out in the end for Montreal Josh has to produce similar to his best season point totals for at least 5 seasons.
What was Bergevin thinking?

Montreal obviously does. I really don’t know.

Ville Lieno got paid 2.7 million per goal, and Clarkson 2.45 million; let's see if Josh can beat that.

It's terrible, but it's not the worst. It could be okay for a bit of it.

The upside of this deal seems marginal while the downside looks gigantic.

Never heard of this guy until today. 27 goal last season is very good. But 5.5 good? I guess it is these days.

Season before last. Last season was 1 goal (in 26 games)

As mentioned, season before last. But he also registered 215 hits. The contract is insane, but he’s a really solid player if he stays healthy.
