You can add offence with a 3rd pairing guy, without destroying your team defense.

Barrie struggled in Leafland but he was a good player previous to that.

Give him sheltered minutes, lots of PP time and offensive zone starts, he will help a team. The issue is at what $$ figure is that of interest to the team and the player. Im guessing those are two very different numbers.

My thoughts exactly (just wanted to chime in since we often disagree on things).

Why not sign both Barrie and Brodie.. Barrie for PP 1 and sheltered minutes. Gives Brodie-Gio less PP time to play more 5 v 5. Hanifin-Anderson PP2 and pairing two. Valimaki - Barrie on pairing 3. Short term deal

Way too much money on D then. Won't be able to add a decent goalie and the forward group will be laughably thin as well.

Yes, too expensive to bring both Barrie in while re-signing Brodie, and I don't think Barrie would agree to come in to play on the third pairing +PP.

With Markstrom done, it's now off to Hall, and Brodie Vs. Barrie.

Man if the Flames start spending we just might see Petrovic in the starting lineup out of necessity

Sportsnet 650 @Sportsnet650
Irfaan Gaffar - Defense is probably the Canucks number one priority. They're kicking tires on Barrie. I've heard Barrie's ask is very large.

Interesting Barrie is asking for a lot when he's had a down year.

If Van needs defense Barrie might not be the best option. Just let us have him lol

He's going for the Josh Anderson approach

Rather have Brodie. And I have a funny feeling he becomes a Canuck or Oiler.

Terms like very large" mean something different to everyone. If someone isn't a fan of Barrie, a 6x6 deal would seem "very large" but to others, it's what is more or less expected.

Barrie's AAV on his last deal was $5.5 million.

I don't see him taking less than that with the offense he provides and the fact that he logs 20+ minutes of ice time per game.

Barrie at $6M is insanity, and do not want.

Could you imagine suggesting trading Barrie 1 for 1 for Markstrom? You would get laughed right off the internet.
