If Anderson doesn't return to form, this is going to be a terrible trade for Montreal.

So glad we didn't bite on Anderson.

This is my fear as well, but it is early in the week. Treliving's inaction for 2+ calendar years may very well continue, albeit with some shuffling of the deck chairs due to expiring contracts.

But but... Montreal fans kept insisting that they didn't want to downgrade to Gaudreau for Domi. Josh must be a superstar. LoL

Good trade for the Blue Jackets I think, and Montreal needed to get a bit bigger. Domi's value isn't nearly as high as people thought it was.

What did you want the Flames to give up for Anderson? I'm glad BT stayed out of this one.

Tie Domi > Max Domi, as far as impact to winning in the NHL, in their respective generation of NHL. At least so far.

Even then his high end is Domi's low end. His career high is 47 points, Domi's low is 45.

Let's look at each player's last three seasons at 5v5.

Domi:

G/60: 0.72
A/60: 1.36
P/60: 2.08

Hits/60: 2.41

Anderson:

G/60: 0.90
A/60: 0.61
P/60: 1.51

Hits/60: 9.35

I guess they could see Anderson being a better fit with their young centers and Domi had a bad season, but man not sure why they are adding a third here.

Wait, who do you actually want from this deal at that cost?

If Anderson's value has inflated to the point where it cost Domi and a 3rd, why exactly would you want to pay that? And if that's true, what value do you actually think the Flames would have given up for Domi?

Wild, no thanks to both.

So are you sad we didn't overpay for Anderson or that we didn't acquire Domi, who seems to be overrated here?

Ya, it's definitely of the 'hot take' variety. I just hate the Domi's and somehow I've found more disdain for Jr, even though I hate papa Domi back in the day.

Trying to see the upside for Montreal? I guess Anderson will be a cheaper contract?

No kidding, Domi and a 3rd is probably on par with Maniapane and a 2nd. I'm glad we didn't land Anderson at that overpayment.

If Anderson signs for $3 mil and Domi wanted $5+ mil, that easily accounts for a 3rd.

No argument from me there, Domi has been infuriating against the Flames the last few seasons.

Cheaper, and also a big RHS. Aside from the injury last year he's improved each year whereas Domi's been more erratic. So maybe they think Anderson has more and Domi has plateaued.
