Yeah there may be a small degree of difference between Khudobin (232 NHL games and former starter) and Francouz (42 NHL games) and Hutchinson who cant crack an NHL roster full time.

so whats the point exactly? Dallas has more goal tending depth? Agreed

The possession, shots, chances, ect. in the series were pretty much even it was a great series but Dallas won it and they are going to give Vegas a run

You just watch when Seattle does the same goddamn thing. No building through the draft like every other team has to do. Get to build by stealing assets that every other team in the league has been collecting for years.

Should have named them the Vegas Pirates.
I think if the expansion draft played out where every single team just submitted their protection lists and hoped for the best instead of full blown panicking like some teams, then Seattle gets a bubble team instead of a full-blown cup contender.

If 3-4 teams completely lose their #### again though, yeah we can pencil the Krakens in as the next serious Western contender for the cup lol.

I think most of the league would trade their team for 80M cap space and the new expansion draft rules but it is what it is can't change it now...I can cheer against them though why not? Hating teams makes sports fun too lol.

If I didn't care who won I probably wouldn't watch

I get the sense that cheering for the Flames isn't good for your mental health. Maybe you should reevaluate your emotional attachment to the team. The Flames are what they are as an organization. You probably have a better chance of satisfaction through changing the nature of your fandom than you do through hanging hopes on the Flames becoming a top team.

The expansion draft rules helped but even at the time of the expansion draft people thought they’d be a lottery team.

The issue is some idiotic NHL GMs made stupid moves that allowed them to get some top line talent (Marchessault, Smith, Theodore) and stockpile picks (Columbus, NYI, WPG 1sts) that’s what made them good fast.

Teams should have just let them take their 13th best player, but instead they overthought it and gave up way more value to Vegas.

And Seattle will do the same thing because there are a lot of bad GMs in the NHL who always overvalue their own players too much, and they will overpay in other assets to protect that guy who’s probably average at best.
Some people thought they’d be a lottery team. But the “experts” should have seen the Knights coming, and I’d expect something similar with Seattle. With the small number of players that can be protected, any smart GM should be able to pick 4 strong forward lines, 6 top 4 defencemen, and a solid goal tandem. With current cap constraints on established teams, that expansion team should be able to defend against top line talent and then crush the 3rd and 4th lines of the established teams.

If Dallas has a better backup that is good for them he is part of the team after all. Anyone expecting an easy win for Vegas is about to be proven wrong again IMO. Vegas barely beat a terrible Vancouver team if we are going to go there, lack of finish almost cost them.

Take your pick of any two backups in the entire NHL right now...we would have great goal tending
Not when you’re dangling guys like Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Gio, Tkachuk. Each of those guys would easily bring back multiple players in the 8F/4D/backup range along with picks. You don’t even have to acquire all 6 d-men, keep Andersson, Hanifin, Valimaki, Kylington and pick up two #4 guys and you’re ahead of the game.

At forward, you keep Backlund, Bennett, Dube, Mangiapane, Lucic, and Ryan, and fill out the last six forwards by trading the top 4 guys on our team, and you’re getting quality 8th forwards back no problem.

You’d have teams lining up at your door looking to take those trades.

At this point, a Knights-Lighting final would be solid. Both teams have paid some dues and it would be fitting to see one of them win.

Tampa: 2015 lost in finals, 2016 lost in conference finals, 2018 lost in conference finals, 2019 lost in first round

Knights: 2018 lost in finals, 2019 lost in first round

It's the 6th of September and this is Vegas' 4th game of the month. It's their 3rd game in 4 nights.

I don't think it's a bad idea to give Lehner a rest.

If they lose, it's not a big deal to lose game one of a 7 game series. If they win, it's a confidence boost for the team to feel like they can win with anyone in net, and Fleury is 3-0 in the games he has played so far, so it's not like there's a big drop-off by putting him in.

Lehner must be tired after facing that barrage of 15 shots and 3 scoring chances

Interesting to start MAF. Though, when you have two starters you can do that.

Fleury at least has the edge on Lehner in the gear game. Especially that lid
