Last year we saw a lack of effort and jam. James Neal didn't help.
No chance Flames go into the series vs the Stars feeling cocksure and looking past them. I find those concerns a little bizarre.
Lucic is a big leadership upgrade and he demonstrated that vs the Jets. Our young guys looked good in the qualifying round. Talbot was fine.
It all spells confidence, not arrogance.

I don't feel too bad about this matchup. It all comes down to which Flames show up. If they keep playing the way they did in the last two, I think the Flames will move on past Dallas. If the Flames we've seen through most of the last year show up, they'll be done in five or maybe six.
I would be really delighted if the version of the Flames from the last two games show up.

Stars in 5 or 6

Why would the underdog be cocksure? It was a gritty lunch bucket team that won the play-in against the Jets.
If anything, the Stars need to be worried about not playing meaningful hockey hockey in 5 months and not winning a game aside from today’s shootout debacle in 6 months. I suspect the Flames will win the first game and the rest will depend on which team can dial up the intensity the fastest. Overall, because they’ve played games that mean something, I would give the Flames a slight edge. I’m going to predict that the Flames win games 1, 3, 5, and 7 as teams take turns kicking it up a notch.

Like the match up on paper, though flames always have trouble with the stars.
It's definitely a series the flames can win. They are not the most physical of teams, hopefully gaudreau/monahan can take advantage.

I think the Flames have learned from last year on how to play in the playoffs. It showed in the Jets series and I expect that play to continue in this round.

I hope they don't go the distance, for my heart's sake. Take the series in 6 or less, I don't think my heart can take a game 7 finish.

Don't know why but I've always hated the Stars . Certain players on that team make it worse.
PAVELSKI
BENN
PERRY
RADULOV
Seguin
Pavelski already talking smack that we have only 2 good defenceman.
Please WARD use this as bulletin board material.
I think this series is going to get nasty fast. I think we will have to really show where we stand as team . I think discipline will be very very important and special teams again is where will live and die.
If Dallas is having problems scoring as previously mentioned shutting them down wont be hard if we play the series all series like played in game 4.
I can't wait to see where guys like Dube , Eat Bread , Rasmus , Reider, who don't get credit enough in my mind take control of games in their own way.
Wondering if Rinaldo makes his way back into the lineup if it gets nasty or if Jankowski stays in.?
Neither Rinaldo or Lucic has fought Benn...yet.

The Flames rarely ever take the path of least resistance.

The Flames haven't won a playoff series in 5 years, and they got spanked in their last one - they aren't taking anyone lightly.
Also, Seguin and Benn have have their number for years. Suggesting they will take Dallas lightly is bizarre.
They won't be afraid of them, but that isn't the same thing.

This happened earlier today in the NBA, so anything is possible.

I think this is a slaughter in the making. Perry is a shell of himself as is Benn. The Stars look terrible, I call a sweep in 4 for the mighty Flames!

Let's not associate our city with "oil" and go with Cowboys and Rodeos instead.

I wonder which two defensemen Pavelski thinks are good on the Flames? Giordano and... Brodie, I guess? Ras is going to have a few words, I'm sure.
