Either way, both opponents are going to be an incredible challenge.

I think that forward group in theory should be comparable to Calgary.
Seguin - Gaudreau
Benn - Tkachuk
Radulov - Monahan
Pavelski - Backlund
Perry - Lindholm
I think the Flames group is actually better and should make up for Heiskanen and Klingberg. That being said, Gaudreau needs to be reminded that the playoffs have started.

Bishop is a choker and the Flames open the flood gates on him when it counts.

I don’t believe this is a thread dedicated to downplaying any opponent. Whomever Calgary faces will be a top seed and the favorite. No matchup is going to be easy.
The idea here, at least as I interpret, is to garner fan feedback on who Calgary may have the best chance against based exclusively on analysis. While you noted it doesn’t matter because you have to face them all, that isn’t true.
Whoever faces Montreal won’t have to face Pittsburgh (or however the ranking head to head now plays out). Montreal shut down Pittsburgh and deserved to move on, but perhaps the Habs found a winning formula as extreme underdogs that will not be replicated against a different team/roster/system next round. Or perhaps Pitts just couldn’t get their game back in time wherein would they have beat Mtl even unceremoniously could have started to round back into form with a play in series under their belt. Whatever the reason, I am sure teams from the East are much happier to see Pitts being knocked out over Montreal because in fact they now have 1 less more elite team to contend with.
Beyond that, some teams just match up well against others while some don’t. It would not hurt my feelings to see Colorado get ousted as I feel they’re a particularly difficult head to head against Calgary. Should Calgary go deep into the playoffs and have other teams do them favors along the way by knocking off some would be tough head to heads for Caalgary, it’s not anyone downplaying other opponents placed in front of the Flames, it’s recognizing a lucky break that is 100% beyond your own control.

I prefer Dallas because St Louis has all the experience of winning in the playoffs. I believe O'Reilly and Tetarenko is gonna up their games when it's do or die.

I couldn't care less who we play.
If we play with the highest degree of GIVE A FATA we will win....just no passengers. Guys have to get into the games without having Tkachuk drag them into it.
Keeping Lucic engaged as well is important. Just because he isn't producing pts its all the other little things he does seen and unseen that matter.
We've proven it and needed to have the preliminary series win to remind them .
Its a huge step up however and there is no denying that. Were healthy!!! We have everything we need in the bubble....the late adds on Defence by Tre are huge.
Man the ascension of play by Dube , Eat Bread , Bennett and Andersson makes this team interesting .
What I like most is how no one expects anything great from us....were underdogs again and I love being looked past like that.
Its like back when the Devils were winning cups....you forgot about them until they were winning again and again and then they had 3 cups before you knew it.
I hope this is a new tradition of winning and making thr playoffs yearly at the very least. Just play hard Flames and leave no regrets and you might surprise yourselves and everyone else in the process.

It’s mostly about Bishop v. Binnington for me.

Yeah, have to say now in retrospect that the deadline pickups on D were brilliant. Especially with hamonic opting out and not wanting to expose Valimaki to expansion.
If they bring their game from gm 1, 3 and 4 they should be able to keep up with whichever opponent they draw. That was effective, hard hitting playoff hockey and a recipe for success. Even if it's not quite enough you're probably still coming out of it happy with the performance.

I haven't really paid attention to the round Robin games, how have Binnington and Bishop looked?

I suppose this could be a sub plot. The deeper the Flames go and if they suffer some injuries on the backend, there will be temptation to play him.
Is it too late for Hamonic to change his mind?

The Stars have more high end talent that we can intentionally injure. Blues are a more balanced team.
Stars all the way.

This. Talking about who is easier feels like bad juju.
So I picked Dallas because win or lose, that sounds fun. Dallas is a pretty entertaining team.

Neutral site they will be fine.

Fortunately, the Flames seem to always play very well in Edmonton.

They didn't really. Calgary had one more point than Vancouver in one more game played. The Canucks were seeded ahead of the Flames on the slimmest of margins based on points percentages.
It is probably for the best, though. Minnesota beat the hell out of the Canucks players in that series, and they will most likely be feeling it moving forward.

Two superstars? We'll make short work of them! With hard, clean hockey plays from our dirty, filthy players.

They’re also disgusting. Especially Tkachuk.

Joking aside, a team with a few top players is easier to shut down. The Flames’ record against the Oilers shows this. Now, if the said player gets on a real roll like Mackinnon, they can win the series themselves. But if you can eliminate their effectiveness or even absorb it and counter, like the Hawks did, you can win.

Prepare yourselves for St. Loo.
Stars haven't won a game since February. They are terrible right now.
Blues will beat them tomorrow, so we'll play the defending cup champs in the next round.

Honestly fine with either matchup, Flames have had some struggles vs the stars in recent seasons but would rather face Bishop and their defence.
