The jets missed their top players, we missed all of ours, even though they were dressed.
Monahan, Giordano, Tkachuk, Lindholm (even though he scored).
Not acceptable. Completely not acceptable.

I try my hardest to not complain about the officiating
But that was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen. Refs have missed so many calls in favor of Calgary. And when two people push and shove, how are we the only ones that get called!?
Absolutely frustrating.

Losing 10 consecutive game 2s isn’t fluke.
Game 2 is where adjustments are made. Team that lost game 1 typically pushes back.
Flames either don’t push back, or don’t raise their game to handle the push back.
Indicative of the franchise. We are used to it. Very pedestrian effort today.

Flames played awful outside of the 3rd line I thought.
And yet with any semblance of a powerplay we have that win easily.

I have no good feelings about that game. The reffing was awful, but so were the Flames. Many weak performances.
Sad to say I am coming around to share the view that Johnny and Monahan are no good for the playoffs. The Flames are desperately missing a top line that can drive the play in a tough playoffs battle.

Paul Maurice with a huge payoff for a standard experienced coaching performance in the media after game 1. Darryl Sutter was great at it. Let's see if Ward tries anything. Unlikely, but unfortunately these things matter in the playoffs. The refs are human.

Giordano and Monahan had two of the worst performances I've ever seen from members of the Calgary Flames. For two guys making over $6 million, they played today they like aren't collectively worth close to a quarter of that.
After that calamitous and predictable showing I'm going to turn on a superhero movie and have a nap.

Flames played like utter dog crap so they deserved that result but that said that may have still been able to pull it out of the refs weren’t even worse. Embarrassing officiating in the third especially. I have seen it only twice in recent times where a team had two go to the box in a scrum to make it a 5-3 and it was the flames both times. Rulers should have been out of the game after his elbow/knee on knee/ interference penalty on Tkachuk.

I have a terrible feeling that this series is going the same way. The Flames might have won their final game this year. The momentum is now going against them and they haven't ever proven that they're at all able to adjust.
|
Flames were sloppy today, but can we chill with the overreaction?
Flames weren’t good and were still in the driver’s seat this game. Clean up the PP and Calgary wins this game.
That was the best effort the Jets could muster without Schiefele and Laine. Series is far from over here.
This wasn’t even close to how bad they looked against Colorado last year.

Bennett was 100x better than tkachuk today.
That is a BS penalty call for the playoffs on Bennett. I have NO issue with Bennett there.

Blow it up - this group has zero chance to do any playoff damage. The weakest, most mentally fragile team there is.

Bench the first line, hell scratch them. Useless.
And if all Tkachuk being on the ice the rest of the series means he's under attack, and we get penalties from the scrums, might as well bench him too.
Get back to playing like you give a damn, typical hard to cheer for Flames.

Frankly, that should be an easy suspension call by the NHL.
Tkachuk never had the puck, Ehlers takes him out. Dangerous interference.

We certainly didn't deserve to win, but it was winnable.
Maybe just the homer coming out, but Winnipeg are the kings of interference. Constantly setting picks, lots of little slashes, etc...
But we have the reputation for being a dirty team?

They couldn't get anything going and still had a chance to send it to overtime. This isn't the Colorado series all over again. Gaudreau was a force out there late. Calgary in 4.

It's 1-1 with a roster advantage to the Flames.
They weren't going to suddenly get all the inconsistencies out of their game. Let's not sit and whine for 24 hours.
Refs were awful in the third. What were those two single flames calls on altercations that involved Jets players? Are you kidding.
Jets won because of the lack of flames discipline imo.
Clean that up and they can and should be back in the drivers seat.
Jets look anemic still, flames just gave them enough opportunities to squeak it out. Just burn that game and clean it up.
Need gaudreaus late desperation for 60 minutes.
Need tkachuk to focus on playing hockey and not the extracurricular. Skate away from it and stay on task. Thats how you get the last laugh.
Maurice is a vet coach and pulled the right strings to juice his players up enough to take a game back, but I don't know what it buys him beyond that. Jets are not a very great team with all hands on deck, let alone now.

If I was Ward my press conference would be:
“A skate hit our player. It was intentional and disgusting.”
And leave.
