I wonder how the injured jets were able to see “specialists” without both players being in a 14 day self isolation period to prevent Covid in bubble transmission.

Would the nhl admit to crappy ice causing the injury instead of some faux narrative based upon a zapruder film?

Let’s get this game won flames!

It will be interesting to see what the Jets do if Schiefele and Laine are both out today. Likely load up the top line and try to grind it out with the other 3 lines.

He’s just being a good coach trying to rally his team when he knows they are up against it.

Slagging Tkachuk to do so isn’t the most absurd thing to do to try and achieve it.

I personally think Maurice is one of the best coaches in the league.

I think he knows he is wrong but coaches are glorified motivators.

The Oilers were crying about the ice after their game, but both teams play on it. But at the end of the day, the injury here was more likely caused by a combination of the turn and possibly a rut in the ice catching his edge.

Would've preferred the Flames to refuse that room throughout the play in/playoffs as they did Thursday.

Totally agree except for the lunch bucket thought. Unless lunch bucket means physical;-) Then ya.

I think the Jets will also remember they have some size and decide that they shouldn't have been out hit. I suspect they'll have Gustaffson and Hanafin in their sights. I think IF Schieffles indeed out then they will take the beat'em in the alley approach. Thats pretty high risk but its that or try to magically learn tight checking.

I don't think it'll work especially if the Flames improve their discipline on hooks and holds. The 5x5 corsi was a bit of smoke. When there are 11 minors in the first real game of the year then its hard for either team to get any rhythm going. 4-5 penalties are fine in a game. First time out and lots of stoppages and the Flames took 7 of those penalties. To be sure a few on both sides were cheap calls but thats hockey.

if we lost Monahan id wager we would be a better team as Lindholm would shift to his natural position. Losing Backlund would hurt more.

STOLE THIS from another board as I thought the insight was above average:

"Will be a tough game, and a defining one for the Ward era. Will the team be ready to match Winnipeg’s intensity, you know Maurice has them wounded up. It will also be interesting to see what adjustments the Jets make. Last game the Jets tried to carry the puck into the offensive zone alot, I suspect this game you will see more dump ins, with a focus on trying to pound the Flames D. This is what we did to them last game. The Jets tried to slow this down with some picks and interference, they only had two penalties against for interference. They could have had a few more. Curious how the refs will call it if we start doing the same thing.

If the Jets do dump with a heavy forecheck Ward will have to adjust by bring his centres lower as the Flames D won’t have time to turn up ice, just time for a quick chip."

Need to stay out of the box. PK was excellent in Game 1 but can’t continue to rely on it to that extent.

If you insist on proper English and punctuation you wouldn't read anything here.

So I missed the first. Then was up until 2am watching the rest of the game.

Today is 3:30 a much better time.

Car flag has been on the car the past could of days. HD this convo yesterday:

Wife: Why do you have the car flag out? You never have it out

Me: *interupts* unless its playoffs

Wife: But its not playoffs

Sister-in-law: Yes it is. They canceled the rest of the season and went straight to playoffs where if teams were close to getting in, they're in, something like that. Even I know this!

Me: Exactly, playoffs!

Go Flames Go

Wooohooo 4pm game! If it's elimination, it's playoffs GFG!

Physical, yes. But also, a tight game without much space to wheel, lots of play along the boards, and plenty of dump and chase.
