Yeah after his comment I feel bad for everything I've said in this thread. That goes to show right there that its only a game and not to jump to conclusions or even be an indirect ass. My apologies.

Yeah I agree, I'm having a hard time with them being paid at all.

Why do they even have a jersey still? Remove them from the Flames entirely. Hamonic who??

It’s an asterisk cup anyways, Hamonic made the right call.

Respect the decision and certainly respect the player and his character.

Having said that let's revisit the trade with the Isles:

Isles got:
Noah Dobson (#12 overall 2018)
Ruslan Iskhakov (#43 overall 2018)
Samuel Bolduc (#57 overall 2019)

Flames got:
3 seasons of Hamonic where he played 74, 69, and 50 games essentially as a 2nd pair dman totalling 11 goals, 31 assists, and a +9 rating
with the team winning a grand total of 1 playoff game (game 1 vs. Col last season) in his Flames career before he hits free agency.

Garth Snow FLEECED Tre on this trade, no more if's or but's about it.

I respect him more for making this choice than I would have if he decided to play despite what they went through with their daughter and having another baby in the house.

Absolutely the right decision on his part. Family always comes first.

His cap hit doesn't make it a fleece, but they clearly won.

Oh I absolutely know that. I was being stupid and having fun. And his statement makes me like a total jerk.

He lived up to his contract, not to his trade acquisition cost which is no fault of his.

He was a fantastic ambassador of our team to the community, I wish it was right for him to be a Flame for life.

I absolutey wish the Travis and his family the best and thank him for everything they've given to Calgary

The only reason I think this decision impacts Hamonic's future here is because I think Andersson will shine playing with Hanifin and the playoffs and make Hamonic a little redundant.

It's not a slight on Hamonic the player at all. And certainly not a slight on Hamonic the person, who is a great guy.

Cap hit irrelevant at this point. The cap hit added to his value in that it gave the Flames more flexibility to be a contender...but they only won 1 playoff game with that contract in place so the benefit never materialized.

Tre went all in with this trade thinking the team would be Cup contenders but in reality they didn't come remotely close. Big time FAIL in my eyes.

You didn't say anything you need to apologize for, or feel bad about. Not by a long shot.

I completely agree. I saw more in Forbert than I ever did in Hamonic. Great person though and I wish he was 2 years older into his career and set on living here and taking small contracts to be our number 5.

I almost guarantee hes a Jet this offseason.

Nice!

Flames' D depth looks good going into Edmonton.

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Andersson
Forbort - Gustafsson
Kylington - Stone
Yelesin

Swap out Forbort for Valimaki and I wouldn't complain if that's what we see next year.

The first part of this thread is an absolute tire fire. COVID affects people in real ways and we need to respect his decision.

“Meh, no loss”
“Positive on ice outcome”
“Glad he won’t be playing with Hanifin anymore”

Stupid, stupid posts.

On ice Hamonic has lost a step but he has always been a model citizen that you want all your young players to be like. Wish him and his family the best going forward.

Stupid, stupid posts.
Relax,man-nobody wrote this on a greeting card to the Hamonic family. We are talking about the public part of his life-the part that takes place on the ice in front of spectators, the part that is up for scrutiny in a message board.
