Again, long term concussion ramifications, equipment designed to be weapons and eye injuries are just as much of not more of a safety concern then Covid.

I seriously doubt that, and ignoring the tu quoque fallacy in the last sentence of your post, I think it is a mistake to assert that even a tightly quarantined environment will provide adequate insulation. Players inside the bubble will still be interacting with far more people on a regular basis than just within their own families. And while this is the best the League can hope to do for containment there is still going to be a tonne of traffic in-and-out of the bubble because of food and room service personnel and transport workers.
In short, no, I tend to think the safest place for players to be is in their own homes, and with minimal contact to the outside world.

Well 26 positive tests in players who are currently not in a bubble. I said the league will provide a Covid safe environment. If the players choose to live beyond this environment, ie. go to clubs, the casino, that’s on them not the league. If the players can’t trust their own teammates that’s not on the NHL.
You are right in what’s “safest” but even if the NHL cancels everything, do you think all the players are just going to live in quarantine for eternity?

I'm not even talking about players breaking the bubble in this scenario. I am talking about how many unavoidable cracks and fissures there are in the first place. I just don't believe this is something that the League will be able to contain even with all the players on their absolute best behaviour.

Clearly we need armed guards at their hotel room doors. Problem solved.

How many unavoidable cracks would they face in normal day to day life?
Life in an NHL bubble is undoubtedly safer than normal life - so long as they choose the cities properly.
Other than maybe the NHLPA not wanting it to be Edmonton, I don't understand why they aren't a lock.

It might become a question of optics for the NHL. Even if they can keep the players in a safe bubble, is it tone deaf to hold a tournament while close to 1,000 Americans are dying every day? Will players want to leave behind their wives and children in the US for weeks and months?
They should be patient and hope for a flattening.

I don't see how anyone can honestly think so. How many people does the average NHL player encounter in his day-to-day life? Undoubtedly far fewer than he will while holed up in a hotel with 500 of his contemporaries and team personnel. Individual players are not encountering dozens of custodial, food service and transportation workers inside of their own homes—they won't be able to avoid this even within the most logistically plausible isolation plan.

The scary part is what could happen if an infected person gets in the hotel whether it be a single player, coach, hotel employee, etc. We have seen how the virus can spread like wildfire in condos. A single infected person in the hotel could literally bring the whole thing down.

It's a shame they clustered up the tallest buildings so close to each other as the cool lines of Telus Sky are obstructed from a lot of viewing angles.

Yep, I was thinking it pretty much has to be. America is headed for insanity in the coming weeks, cities starting to run out of beds and blowing past march/april numbers.
If they hedge on a US city with all the planning and commitment needed they'll risk not getting off the ground.
