So the Canucks don't have a 1st or a 2nd round pick. The 1st rounder was a decent move, Miller has been great for them. Not sure about the 2nd for Toffoli, I guess it remains to be seen how it works out. Does seem a little early to be dealing away picks like that but the rebuild has definitely gone quicker than I thought it would.

a fringe 4th liner Schaller + 2nd and a prospect is overpayment? did you see what the Pens gave up for Zucker?

So what would the Flames equivalent be?
I'm guessing
Jankowski (Schaller)+2nd+Pettersen (Madden)
I don't think i would have been pleased with that.

Zucker has term and a reasonable contract. Toffoli is a rental.

^ to Jiri,
Not for a rental, nope.
Most expiring UFAs get their tires pumped up so much by media, that average players become key pieces at the trade deadline and shiver average players become must haves.
Taffoli a slightly above average player, an though he would be added to the Flames, not a make it break peice for that price.

Well the obvious difference is Zucker has term left.

That's about the equivalent. Yeah I dont think we would've been pleased in retrospect at that price.
I wouldn't mind giving that up for a better player than Toffoli though.

I suggested Pettersen
Both are ranked around 5ish in each teams' ranking.
Both NCAA guys
Pettersen was drafted later, but I think has progressed more.

Madden is listed as 5’11” and 150 lbs on hockeydb. That can’t be current can it?
If so, he wouldn’t have the physique you would want for a 20 year old prospect.

Especially because there's no way they can re-sign Toffoli... he's probably going to cost $5-6M per year.
This is a pure rental for a team that's supposed to be trying to finish a re-build, but this trade suggests they're going all in on a Stanley Cup run. Bad trade.

He really isn't. Only Lindholm when he's playing RW.

My friends in Vancouver are not pleased about dealing away Madden away for Toffoli.

Pretty much what I expected the cost to be from everything we’ve been hearing.
A 2nd, a good prospect, and a NHL roster player as throw in to help cap/contract #s.

Boy the Kings have a CPHL Wild-level accumulation of forward prospects.
Gabe Vilardi
Alex Turcotte
Tyler Madden
Arthur Kaliyev
Rasmus Kupari
Jaret Anderson-Dolan
Akil Thomas
Samuel Fagemo
That's unfair organizational depth.

JB doesn't trade for rentals, so they will re-sign him for sure.
we have his good friend Pearson as well so that played a big part of this deal i think.
word here in Vancouver is JB will be looking to deal some contract out at the TD.
Stecher or Tanev might be gone by Monday, we have this guy named Rafferty whose ready to step in.
