He made $715K this year, which is pretty sad. 3 years to UFA. What's he gonna get? 3 @ 2.75 (ie. Bennett money)? More? Less?

He's already a better player than Bennett, to be honest, but he's got the kind of numbers Bennett had when he signed his deal (for which he is now overpaid).
I touched on it briefly in the Game Thread, but yeah. Hes a player we need because he brings energy and enthusiasm but he could be due for a big raise. We might even be talking 'Kassian Money.'

I don't doubt he'll be looking for it but the numbers don't really bear them out. He'll have one full season under his belt at 35 points, RFA so not much leverage. I bet he'll be wanting a 3 year deal at 3.5 and the team will want 4-5 at 3ish.

Guys, hear me out but I think I might be onto something...

The Flames' last 4 wins:
6-4 vs Anaheim,
6-0 @ Anaheim,
6-2 @ San Jose,
6-2 @ Vancouver.

As we all know, Satan is directly responsible for Flames victories (duh). And what's the Number of the Beast? 666!

Clearly the team has figured something out here. So I propose that the Flames should score 6 goals every game. It seems like a sure-fire way to guarantee a win!

Sorry for the hot take.

I haven't been here long, but I gathered that Big Red doesn't like Bennett. For the last little while, seems like he'll complain about Bennett whenever he can. Even when he is praising Mangiapane, he'll slip a passive aggressive swipe at Bennett. Very interesting.

Not that interesting. I don't dislike Bennett. I hear he's a nice guy, very polite, good teammate. Not much of a hockey player though. Not much disputing that.

If you're following this team then it totally fits.

"They think they're good again, time for some humility....whats that? They're at an all-time high? I can fix that too..."

Yeah...I definitely think Satan has his hands all over this and is getting a gigantic laugh in at our expense.

Satan is a fickle bedfellow.

Game Takes:
Flames 6 Ducks 4

- Mangiapane explodes for three goals and four points
- New 3M Line dominant
- Flames score 5 in the third period to erase 3-1 deficit

Lucic - Bennett - Dube has seen very good offensive results. Your take here is crap.

Bennett has played two games at centre and here is his lines output:

Dube: 2GP, 2A
Lucic: 2GP, 1A
Bennett: 2GP, 3G

It’s a short sample, but it has been an effective trio that should be kept together. Ryan. Should play with Jankowski and Rieder and help get more out of them.

Since the AllStar break, Bennett has 3G, 3A in 9 games. That’s damn solid.

Not sure it's been mentioned but thought Yelesin looked pretty good out there. Definitely looked like he could be a good 3rd pairing guy next year

Great come back! CGY has to find a way to string a bunch of good periods together. Want to see them just play well over time. That’s CGY’s challenge.

Bennett has 8 goals in 43 games (0.19 G/GP)

I think they're very similar players that bring similar energy. The only thing that shifts the perception of their value? Expectations.

I like both players and would like to keep them around because they're both tremendous middle-six options.
