The only thing good about tonight's game was that the No Goods also lost. It's not a big consolation prize, but it beats...nah, it doesn't beat anything.

What the hell was that last two minutes? Sharks didn't even have to move. Flames pass it around the perimeter. This team cannot play whatever system they are supposed to be playing. Get embarrassed in the playoffs last year so let's completely change things out when we don't have the players to do it. And the stupid decisions to change lines up every twenty minutes whether or not they are working. Totally ticked off at the keystone cops defensive system. Who the heck developed that? Don't make a mistake which of course with offensive players creates way more mistakes.

I would not trade some of our struggling players until they get a coach than can identify their real strengths and help them turn things around.

So sick of seeing good players uncertain of what to do because there is no direction.

Something finally clicked in me watching this game.

A number of these guys actually, genuinely, don't care. You can tell by what they're doing out there, and the pace at which they're doing it. 4 shots in the third says it all. This is putting aside the terribly flawed and ambiguous system that they're employing.

I'm all for selling and retooling now. And that's unusual for me given the standings, I'd usually chirp people that want to go that route while in a playoff hunt. But there's no way, there's just no way this roster, the same one that folded against the Avs has taken any kind of step forward since then. They're just as fragile.

Recognizing this now, it's clear to me that we need a couple of transplants in this team's core. I sincerely hope Treliving recognizes that and is honest with himself about what needs to be done.

Screw scraping into a playoff spot on streaky, inconsistent efforts. We have to aim for higher and for the bigger picture.

I'd rather have hope for this team's future because we sold and collected picks/prospects and watch the Oilers play in April than spend assets to repeat last spring all over again.

Bad hockey

Uninspired

Can’t watch more like this

This season has been such a let down which is the norm for a year after a playoff appearance.

Out in 3, they will forfeit the 4th game.

I am terrified what Treliving might do in the next two weeks here.

He has made low-probability, high-consequence, ‘keeping up with the Joneses’, moves when under little pressure before.

Now, if he gets really desperate in a bid to make the playoffs we could be in for another ill-advised blunder.

Sell. Load up on picks for the 2020 draft.

They are actually -24. The standings give them a nominal +5 for their 6-1 shoot out record, but those are not real goals.

18th in GF
18th in GA
7th worst goal differential

That's not a playoff team, even if the standings say otherwise.

The one thing that reassures me about this season is that Treliving is not going to go out and acquire short term assets. If he does end up making a move, at least it will be with a long-term outlook. Well, it has been his M.O. from the start, so I hope it lasts.

At this point, you simply have to change the coach up. You have to do something. Flames still can't really start selling - they are still in the playoffs. You can make an argument that they maybe should sell some players, but no team really makes drastic moves shipping out roster players for picks/prospects while in a playoff spot. Check-in next week though!

One of the bright spots was Lucic in this game. He was noticeable for a while, made solid plays, played physical... That's how he needs to play to be effective. Good on him for playing that way, and also good on him for not killing Goodrow, especially when Goodrow went down.

Rest of the team... meh.

Hopefully Giordano isn't out for an extended time, or the Flames may really end up being sellers.

After Saturday's game I was considering not watching tonight. I wish now I wouldn't have. It's so frustrating watching them wilt and piss away points. And Treliving just sits there with his thumb up his ass.

If he's out ever for a while, they'll need to put someone else on PP1 - so that might actually help. Gio is simply too slow on the point now.

Has anyone asked what’s wrong with Gaudreau? The guy has zero motor. He’s the opposite of last year.

no bounce back very little emotion or push back, this team quits on itself way too easily.

To say I'm dissapointed is an understatement.

Football starts on Friday for me thank god.

Can't blame the GM because of rinse and repeat or something. I guess he is executing some brilliant strategy for team building that we haven't seen before and just need to let it play out for another several years.

We can blame the players, especially Gaudreau, well because it's pretty clear they are playing horribly. So there's that I guess.

I actually think a quality NHL coach who has a track record of success would get this team into the playoffs and maybe even win a round or two. And wouldn't cost a single draft pick.
I’m with you I think the GM and coaching are more to blame than anything.

Treliving has not built this team to be balanced enough as the talent is all on one side of the ice. We have no top 9 RWers on this team and he needed to address that a long time ago.

The coaching is making some puzzling decisions but it’s on the GM again to hire the right guy for the job.

Maybe it’s on ownership but they need a proven winner to lead these guys. They need leadership, not young less experienced coaches.

Everyone wants to blame certain players but I think it’s an organizational problem.

Hopefully they aren’t too cheap or shortsighted to actually fix things.

This race back to irrelevance has been something else. It’s like we wanted to find new ways to be a completely middling, useless hockey team.

Please for the love of the hockey gods, just sell.

Good luck dealing with Backlund and Lucic going forward. That’s nearly $11M in dead weight, I’m not sure you can overcome that.

Try to sit on an interim rookie coach to save money

you get the appropriate results.

I had the game on but basically checked out after the Kane goal. Just knew they would fold when Rittich doesn't stand on his head. There is no way they should make any moves to make a playoff run, this core has given up on themselves after being rocked by Colorado.

I think that answers a lot of questions about this team. None of the answers are good however.

Gonna? They already are.

I felt like I was the one who was crazy earlier in the season when finding it hard to believe people think he's worth a 1st rounder if he was to be traded. You'll get a 4th rounder at best with his play, age, and that contract.

Treliving has a lot of misses with his contracts and trades.
