I would love to see Doughty a the last man in, but it should be Pacioretty. As far as Rittich taking Kuempers'(if injured) spot, no, it should be Markstrom from Vancouver.

10 to Doughty. Hope they’re put on the same line.

Probably not as often as he tries it in real games.

Now Fleury has withdrawn, Markstrom to replace him.

The NHL is such a joke. The All-Star game is terrible, but if you're going to have it, players should have to play unless legitimately injured. None of this bowing out nonsense to rest up for the stretch run. If a game with no hitting tires you out too much, there's probably something wrong with your conditioning.

All-Star jersey revealed, interesting to see a Flames logo without any yellow:

Garbage. The designers look like they took a year off.

I don't think it matters because I am not going to watch the All Star game no matter how nice the jerseys are.

The thing is it's an entire weekend for these guys. Press, media, fan events, skills competition, the games. It's practically 2.5 days of constant attention, and I can imagine that can be quite exhausting in the latter half of the season.

So I understand the players' perspectives, but...

I don't like to see players skip, either. Selfishly, I like to see the Flames out there representing and showing off to bring some attention to this market. It's kind of disregarding the fans when you skip it, so I think there should be larger consequences to skipping than just a soft 1 game suspension. Make it 2 games bookending the weekend, and you give up pay that goes in the player emergency fund (or whatever it is). If the PA really clamors for a rest, make sure there are no games 2 days before the event, and 2 days after the event.

This is a marquee NHL event and there should be pride and honor with being involved.

I can only assume Fleury withdrew *after* seeing the jerseys.

Players and fans barely care about the all-star game anymore, so no wonder the jersey designers half-ass it too.
