It will be very interesting to see how Hall fits in with the Coyotes defensive approach. Seems like a square peg, but you never know. The player could buy in or a coach can make adjustments to free up offensive guys.
Obviously, I'll be hoping that the fit doesn't work since they are in the division. Thankfully, the Flames have already played a few games against the Coyotes so hopefully any of his success will be to the detriment of Vegas/Edmonton/Vancouver.

So potentially two 1sts, but likely only 1 and a 3rd.

There's a hard 1st-round pick in the Hall trade PLUS another conditional 1st-round pick IF the Coyotes re-sign Hall AND win a playoff round. The conditional pick becomes a third-round pick if neither of those things happen. And a 2nd-round pick if one of those 2 things happen
|
This makes more sense.

Well whew. Crisis averted for now. Not a bad little trade. And 50% retained. That's good for the totes, they can still add for a big push at the deadline.

So as of a today, it’s a 1st and a 3rd.
If Hall re-signs or they win a playoff series it’s a 1st and a 2nd.
If Hall re-signs and they win a playoff series it’s a 1st and a 1st.

I like the conditions on the picks.
Think Chayka is a good GM. He's going all in on a year where there is no strong contender coming from the Pacific.
Absolutely shocked the Coyotes were able to retain Raanta. This makes them a strong contender with 2 good goalies to push them through with load management.

Definitely not the picks. But prospect wise yeah the Flames definitely could offer better than that.

Potentially, different types of defensemen, but how does Bahl (size?) compare in value to Valimaki/Kylington (finesse)?

More a defensive minded D-man. Also very Tahl.

The 2020 first-round pick from Arizona in the Taylor Hall trade is top-three protected. Converts to 2021, if so.

Yeah, we could have. Mangipagne and Kylington alone was better than the entire package that Jersey got. I'm glad we didn't go down this road, but Calgary could have bettered the deal. I think Treliving holding onto the 1st round picks is a damn good thing.
