And away we go....
Leafs don't get off to a bad start, none of this happens, at least now.
And based on what we have learned about Peters in the last few days, I'm glad it has. it is horrible stuff, but best to have it removed from your team and organization and move on.
And if it sparks a larger culture change even better.
The poor start from the Leafs may end up being a catalyst for some pretty big things.

who'd have thought just a week ago flames fans would appreciate something the leafs did. lol

Wasn’t there a Sun poll where 75% Calgarians accepted the apology from Peters? That was eye opening

I need to know two things before this whole thing is over:
1. How was he hired without this being known, or If it was known, then why was he hired?
Actually, it's just the one thing.

It was about Dave Coulier leaving her for another woman.

I must have missed the Commodore tweet on Peters prior to Aliu. What did he say?

Ironic because people are typically happy and upbeat whenever Dave Coulier leaves.
Hey! This is off topic! Ooh you sneaky bastard you!

i would tend ot think that the flames have wored out a settlement with peter's that somehow protects them/the NHL from having to go to court to deal with this further.
i guess the interesting things are:
1. will we see peters coach high level hockey again - anywhere (remember even graham james found places to coach over the years)
2. will there be any additional fallout as a result of this issue - i.e. otehr coaches, gm's, players
3. what will the future coaches look like - you would have to think they will be far more cerebral versus the keenan type

How would the Flames have any idea about what Peters said one morning 10 years ago?
Unless he volunteered the info, which is clearly not the case, I'm not sure how the Flames can shoulder any blame for this debacle.

Loaded question.
A more appropriate one to get an actual response would be
"Can you tell us if the team is reviewing your hiring processes as a result of this, and if you anticipate making any changes based on this experience"?

Its obvious Peters is done in Calgary. Reading all the comments here, I wish our society was able to not be so quick to judge others. I just wanted to see Bill Peter's be given a fair opportunity to defend him self but because the allegation was posted on Twitter his fate was set.
Social media destroys lives. This didn't have to go down this way. Also, before you all disagree I'm sure everyone here as said something racist or homophobic at some point in your life. How would you feel of tomorrow your life was decimated because of a word?
I am in no was saying that racism is acceptable but let's take a beat to look at the situation and fairly assess all the facts....like the Flames tried to do

Multiple people confirmed the story. What would have been a satisfactory defense from Peters for you? I am curious to know what he could have said to make it ok. Please elaborate.

I kinda lumped in everything we've heard about him over the last few days. Fair point, that the Aliu situation would have been difficult to uncover, but the other stuff should have come up somewhere, I would think.

I would expect that the Flames have (unhappily?) paid Peters a settlement of some sort. At a guess, probably not his full contract due to the alleged circumstances.
You won't hear how much, why, or anything else. Simply that he's gone and how sad a situation it was all around, no tolerance, respect...blah blah...and here's our interim coach. (Can't see it being permanent even if he were the best candidate at this time.)
Maybe we can get back to hockey now?
