That release though, it was so slow it was like he was amazed a pass to the slot actually worked for once.

Powerplay entry still so predictable. Ugh.

I don't remember our last 2 on 1 where we get a good chance.

Right off the hop, Gio has the puck deep in the Flames zone. Forwards blow the zone and Gio surveys his options. They hit the center line and slow up, then he dumps it off the boards to the winger, who is standing still with 2 guys on him

Later on, playing dump and chase and letting Johnny go crash and bang.

Cassie keeps talking about things they worked on in practice. Can’t gain the zone on the PP

This has been another ugly period

So they spent the day practicing the pp yesterday and today they don't go with those pp lines...

We must lead the league in shots wide and odd man rushes against.

Lots of talk about Peters but I haven't seen much to indicate Ward is part of the solution as the powerplay has been garbage for some time. I don't even know what the Flames were attempting to do on that last powerplay as it consisted of some baffling pass attempts on their breakouts.

Wow what a call. That happens to Gaudreau almost every shift.

Flames need to get more shots on Carter. He has been really bad this year.

I may spend the intermission researching how long we have to go before we break the NHL record for longest time elapsed without a goal away from home.

Lucic gets some first power play minutes as a reward for his even strength goals this year.

This game is just as depressing as the previous bunch has been. Good thing they took that long look in the mirror or whatever it was. The Flyers look just about as lifeless as the Flames though.

Could be a while. I didn't see anything in the first period that indicates the team is getting close to scoring again. At least they weren't as much a mess defensively as they were against the Blues but man this is hard to watch. I can't recall witnessing such a broken Flames team.

I hate to say it but that first period looked less inspiring than the first period in St. Louis the other night.

Scoreless 1st period. That's a small step. I'll take it.

The brand of hockey looks like GG is back.

Eff the structure, just freewheel it. Score some damn goals. These systems don't work.
