My thoughts. Kuemper was excellent tonight, lets not take anything away from him. That whole dust up doesn't happen if the officials do their fn job and call the penalty where Gaudreau takes a slew foot. The NHL still has an officiating problem but it will never change because the League does not hold officials accountable. As for the Flames they have entirely to many passengers. Reider is not an NHL calibre player, waive his ass and bring up Dube who will provide a spark. Put Quine back in and bench Jankowski who while is a decent PK is a black hole in every other aspect. Frolik is a 4th liner now, that is where he belongs. The biggest problem with the Flames this season imo is Michael Backlund. This guy has been a giant bag of suck since playing a terrible series against Colorado last year. He is still a decent pk guy but he is an offensive black hole, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. I would rather Derek Ryan play 2nd line C right now than Backlund. Even worse, the guy is making 5+ million which was good value when he was playing like a Selke calibre forward but he is playing like a 4th liner. So when you saddle Tkachuk with two guys playing like 4th line scrubs it is amazing he generates the offence he does. BT should be looking to put together a package of Backlund plus picks/prospects to get this team another legit top 6 C. Mangiapane is getting better and can tow the line as 2nd line RW if needed but this team is winning sweet F all with Michael Backlund as our 2nd line C.

The team has been pretty uninspiring to date. I can’t see them making any kind of run without some big personnel changes.

I'd ask for a lottery pick but that's truly an Undiscovered Country for this team

Yep, this goes all the way back to the All-Star break. They've been a below average team for the majority of 2019.

Oilers lost in OT, Vegas in regulation. That was helpful. Vegas 9-10-3, we’re 10-10-3. I wonder if their fans are freaking out as much as we are?

Can we just spend some money in a coach for once and see what happens. Peter's is all about uninspired .500 hockey.

But it would suck pretty bad to burn this season.

Better to burn the season than trade a 1st round pick, or not get full return on a core player.

Vegas should throw in the towel, trade everyone, and go for the lottery pick

That said, if the opportunity presents itself to trade with a more desperate team, changes should not be avoided for the sake of recursively preaching eternal, fruitless patience.

This goes back a long time now.
Since Feb. 1 of this year they are 28-25-5 in the regular season and 1-4 in the playoffs...29-34 combined.
Definition of an average, at best, team.
This group is simply not good enough and that falls entirely at BT's feet.
He HAS to be at the end of his rope with this group and his bosses have to be wondering about him at this point.
Changes have to be made, either in personnel on the ice soon or personnel off the ice later.

I am starting to get concerned about the lack of involvement by most of the team. We have a couple of players every game who try to do stuff. The rest just make minimal effort. Is it motivational? It isn't talent. Until they figure it out, I think the team will continue to struggle A LOT. Maybe they need an exorcism.
