People need to be comfortable with their linemates, and the blender is the ... answer!
Is that how you read it? I heard the interview. He’s saying they need to be comfortable with the work ethic of the guys around them.

In coaching the one carrot the coach really has is ice time. He gave the old combos many games to work but they sucked. So what can he resort to? He has to hand ice time out based on work ethic. The lines need to change because some people need to be rewarded and some punished based on their effort and starts.

I think it is very dangerous to take things as truth just because they have been repeated on this site over and over.

The fact is that the team was still playing the 3rd game in 4 nights (4th game in 6 nights) after a cross country trek and the first game back is always tough.

Hopefully this works out and doesn't turn the players against Peters.
If the interview from Tkachuk is indicative, the team will buy what Peters is selling. Either he was in agreement with Peters or they independently said the same things. Of course, players differ, and I'm not sure which players will respond to the tough love. That said, criticism after a win versus a less critical approach after a loss isn't exactly a new technique.

Tru dat. I think the most likely explanation is what's obvious - this was the deal they could agree on. For whatever reason - budget, Tkachuk's willingness to go long term with anyone on his first go round, etc. Does it really matter?

I'm looking forward to watching Taylor Hall play tonight...and then get off the New Jersey team bus and walk right into the Flames dressing room as a Calgary Flame at the end of the night.

I think a big part was it was the second big comeback win in a short period of time, where they maybe didn't have the greatest start (IMO the Phoenix game and Nashville game were very different).

He kind of gave them a bit of a pass after the Nashville game - at least in the media.

So when it happened again I think he felt the need to send the message. Also feel like this home stand is important at this junction of the season and he didn't want any points to slip away.

I believe Hammer's body is broken. Almost positive he is hurt. You know he would have to be in the ICU to not play. I will never question his heart. Having said all that, he is struggling.

Hamonic has been brutal. Would be such a mistake to re-sign him. Would be great to get anything for him before he walks away. Sooner than later would be best.

I know. I was taking the quote as it was written, and I found it funny.

I guess people were not looking at it from the same perspective, having a sense of humour

Oh well

Some of the greatest coaches were completely unpredictable in their praise.

With Bowman when he was coaching them, they'd go out on a West Coast swing and sweep it and come home to a bag skate session and a critical coach. They'd go out and play a stinker of a game and Bowman would praise.

He'd berate certain players and be really gentle to other ones.

For 364 days the players would hate Bowman, and on the 365's day they'd love him because they'd get their rings and bonus checks.

The bottom line is that the kindly players coaches don't last long because the players will eventually run over him. The task masters have a fairly short shelf life nowdays because the players tune out the stick approach (See Hartley)

the best coaches will navigate and read the team and understand what they need. The Flames know that their work ethics and game starts have sucked. Peter's is re-enforcing that thought.

This should be a straightforward win by 2 or 3.

The Pittsburgh air horn fan and the Washington air horn fan had a kid and he’s a complete spaz on the air horn.

It wasn't me you were hearing on the broadcast. I bought one to make fun of the guy who was playing it so badly and then the Flames started scoring
