I agree that this is over the line and needs review by the league. This kind of stuff needs to be eliminated from the game.
I also am very pleased to have someone in the lineup who will face DOPS action by punching someone in the face who stick nuts the Flames goaltender. Enough guys get punched in the face and they'll probably stop doing it to the Flames. Looch provides little value, except when doing these type of things. So good on him for doing his job.

2 games seems stronger than I anticipated but acceptable I think. Not the end of the world. Onward.

good decision. If another team's player did that to a Flames player, we'd all be livid.

It always amazes me that people keep thinking any suspension ever sets a precedent.
The NHL does not work on precedents. It never has. It never will.

Jesuz H tapdancing christ this league has become a complete mirage of what made it so great as a youngster.
A smack to the mouth is a 2 game suspension now? Asinine.
Also makes the Lucic acquisition even worse (hard to believe that was possible) than it was the day it was made.
The guy is now completely useless for the team moving forward but a great big chunk of salary cap. As I said at the time....franchise crippling as far as salary cap implications go.
Only 3 3/4 more years!!!!
This may end up being the worst single trade in Flames history when the implications of the money ties up in him, his "ability" to play the game, and what it does during the clubs window to compete are all added together.

Seems appropriate. That was more rough than a typical scrum face push that you see every game. He knocked him right off his feet. I think you can reasonably argue intent to injure.

So, the reasoning for 2 games is that he's done this in the past. Is Adam Lowry gonna get 5 games for the hit he threw in Vegas ? Exact same plays a week apart.

Not if a Flames player speared a goalie

Seems harsh, especially considering there was no injury (that I am aware of) from the incident.

Lucic threw a bigger punch than necessary, but I still love him sticking up for the team. Especially considering Rittich was speared and hurt against Carolina.

Meh. 2 games is nothing for sending the rest of the league a message especially after that bull#### in Carolina. Loved the punch!

Sherwood made a questionable hit prior to digging in at Rittich on this play. If you are going to be a young kid running around causing a scene then you better be more aware of who is on the ice with you if you are playing on that line. Sherwood did nothing to protect himself here. Did Lucic cross a line? Yeah, probably, but that was the reason for the double minor.
Soft,soft,soft...
