You can say that all you want, but it was very unlikely to happen here. Where would you put him into the line-up at?

Weird that some people suddenly want Neal gifted a role he never came close to earning here.

I bet Nashville is beside themselves they let the leagues leading goal scorer go in the expansion draft

Vegas distraught they let him go too

You predicted him being even better than that steaming pile of #### he laid last year?

Way to go, Kreskin

I would probably put him you know....the position where Frolik, Bennett, and Mangiapane have rotated due to all being ineffective. You make it sound like the team has a 2nd line RW or something.

Edmonton hasn't looked good over the last few games, they were a team that was just looking for a loss.

I bet they lose multiple games in a row.

Its great they're getting production from Neal and McDavid, but they're basically dragging that team to questionable wins, as Flames fans we know it doesn't last.

You make it sound like he earned this. He was outplayed by all 3 last year. So, are you one of those who think he should be gifted a spot he didn't earn? Do you keep him around just hoping a spot opens up?

Draisatl played 26:59. As a forward. In a regulation game.

Mcdavid came in just behind at 26:21.

Their combined time on ice was almost greater than the bottom 6 forwards combined. That’s just nuts.

Are you really a Flames fan and did you actually watch any of the games last season?

Neal had plenty of opportunities, he was tried with Tkachuk and Backlund, he held them back. He got plenty of time with Gaudreau and Mony, especially after every PK, he didn’t even look like he was an NHL player. The whole Frolik-Walsh incident was a result of how the team coddled Neal and gave him opportunities that he didn’t earn.

It’s ridiculous that any Flames fan, who watched any games last year would think that the flames didn’t give him a fair shot.

In other news, Mike Smith’s over aggressive goaltending cost the oilers the game.

I do not miss that.

Neal has a 36% shooting percentage. McDavid, Crosby and Kane have never had a full year scoring at that percentage. on top of that, he has zero assists. so if he's not scoring, not defending, not hitting, not assisting, when his scoring reverts back to the mean, he's going to be as useless as he was last year and likely pouting if he's still not on the power play or the top two lines.

This is a huge problem for Edmonton. Last year after six games Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had scored two goals and seven points.

I very much doubt that Neal will get pouty this year. Edmonton has no choice but to play him in their top six and on their powerplay, because he might be the Oilers's fourth best player. They cannot afford to move him down the lineup like Calgary could.

Thanks Hawks! That bad AHL defence didn't seem to have too many problems tonight.

Yes, he has 4 assists in total, 3 on the PP.
