Exactly. Neal was useless here. Pat Steinberg said it best today, as long as Lucic provides more for the Flames than Neal did (which isn’t hard) then there’s no need to be upset.
And would anyone be surprised if Neal scored 7 goals the rest of the way? I wouldn’t.

He was god awful last year. Brutal. Worst by a Flame in a long time.
I will always believe it was a better idea to hang on and see if a bounce back happened than dealing him for Lucic and that contract though. Lucic is done and has been for a couple years. Neal had one really bad year.
I hope Milan finds the fountain of youth, but after watching him both the last couple years and even this short sample of a year....there is just nothing left there to hang some hope on.
Maybe if he can bag a couple goals he gets rejuvenated, but that seems such a longshot.

I think it would be a nice thing for all of us just to humor the Oiler fans out there and play along when they start talking about Neal or the Oilers' start to the season. This is their highlight of the season right now, let them have their moment before it crashes down in a couple more games.

I guess for me I just don’t understand the urgency of the trade and why it was made in the summer. He has a history of 20 goal seasons and this could have been abnormality in his career. I mean why not wait till Christmas to pull the trigger and really see what you got.
Perhaps he forced their hand, but I don’t like the knee jerk reaction from Tree. We’ve been extremely patient with players like Bennett, yet we rush out a proven vet who constantly scores 20+.
Obviously we don’t know what happened behind closed doors, and who knows, maybe he would have never worked in Calgary. I just wish a bit more patience was shown.
