People have a strange idea of what Stone is.

He was likely feeling the effects of what turned out to be blood clots before having a diagnosis. This is an ailment that has ended careers, and is hard to come back from because you have to ramp physical activity down so far in order to recover. The whole of last year is essentially a zero in terms of assessing his value.

Stone is a slightly overpaid defense first physical defenseman with a booming shot. On the right side.

Brodie and frolik go before stone does.

I'm of the opinion that I think the team purposely feeds him misleading information just to screw with his credibility as a reporter because they all hate him. It's just an assumption, but I think I'm onto something here.

Brodie is a mobile top pairing defender, whose partner has his best years with, and just, you know, won the Norris. So there is that.

I’m stoked. I was happy with the Bennett signing, but Rittich will be much more impactful. I really think this guy proves to be a legit #1 in these next 2 years. Take us to the promised land Big Save Dave!

Great signing. I really think BSD has what it takes to get to be an outright #1 goalie, this deal will look like incredible value.

Rittich was prepared to come to the arbitration hearing:

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
“I had my bag packed for the flight,” Rittich said. “We (signed at) 2 a.m. (Czech) time (on early Saturday morning). So, I was happy I didn’t have to wake up at 5 a.m. (to travel to Toronto)."

I have my Doubts. We will see how this season plays out.

Safety net contract for both sides. He doesnt improve he is paid like a back up, he becomes a number one, he has a massive raise in 3 years from now.

Any team with bad defensive depth who is desperate for RHD?

Could make more sense to move Brodie and keep Stone IMO. You’ll get more for Brodie, he’ll be coveted by a wider range of team.

Great signing BT

term and AAV are perfect imo... similar to Bennett in that they are 'betting on themselves' to a degree and taking a reasonable AAV for shorter term in the hopes they can score big on their next contract.

i like it.

Fantastic signing. Rittich has the potential to be not only a good starting goaltender, but an excellent one.

Great signing.

We head into the season with two goalies that each have #1 potential, and know this is their chance to prove it. And each is signed at the price of a good backup.

Total cost of $5.5M for goaltending is excellent.

I feel like Rittich is the best goalie we've had since Kipper, and it's not even close.

I also feel like that's a pretty massive understatement.

I think it’s evident what Peters thought of him before the injury.
