I love a good ol viscious hit more than most but Kucherov has time to notice that the other guy is in a bad position and let up. Instead he comes in full force. Back in 85 this was finishing your check. Today its clearly a violation of the rules. It should be a one game suspension. I expect they'll just levy a fine.

Not only does he have time to notice the other guy is in a bad position, he’s the one who put him in the bad position with a trip, and at no point between the trip and the hit does the other guy get into a “good position” to receive the hit.
I don’t know much about 85, but this isn’t just a violation of the rules, it’s straight dirt.

Kind of puts the Lightning in a bind as this is a really bad decision by the player. Back bad playoffs for him after lighting it up in the regular season.

He's very lucky it wasn't a lot more.
If the player had been injured, it would have been more, and that's not really relevant.
The fact that the game was all but over makes it even worse.
