I can’t see it being an ACL tear as usually that is associated with a twisting type impact or movement. If there is a ligament to have damage, the PCL is one that is easier to come back from and at times surgery isn’t even done. For surgery on a PCL tear isn’t always successful.
X-ray would just show negative on a break. MRI will show the ligament info.
Oh and I am still not confident in Smith as the playoff starter.

I agree. Not a medical professional by any means but It looked like a severe hypertension of his knee, which would be a posterior cruciate ligament tear possibly. That is a year long recovery.

Hope McDavid is ok. Great player that gets cheated by his team and organization enough.
I didn’t see anything I didn’t like from the Flames.
I am done talking about regular season hockey. See you all in another thread.

McDavid mouthed that he thought it was broken on the ice. If he's broken anything before he would know how it feels. If he hadn't, then who know. But it didn't look like a knee ligament injury.
It looked exactly like Stamkos and his broken leg on the same play from years ago.

ACL's limit forward and rotational movement of tibia. To tear an ACL by moving the tibia rearward I think you'd have to tear the PCL first. Knee on knees are slightly different because it's the knee moving backward. Aka, the tibia moving forward that cause the injury.

Apparently, the CHED 630 post game show is now a medical lecture hosted by orthopedic surgeons.

Perhaps he felt the pop that occurs from a ligament tear, which can be an unsettling and a forceful/substantial uneasy feeling.
When I saw how the shin was pushed back, I immediately thought ligament. Worse feeling.

If someone would have told me that we would lose the first game of the season to the e-Nucks and the last one to the e-Oilers and get 107 f... points, I would have made fun of him!
Welp, here we are!
Bring on the Colorado Rockies....ooops Avalanche..I guess I can't hide my age anymore!
