So, like a 25% chance.
Dallas has to lose two games in regulation.

Dallas would need to lose in Regulation. All they need is a point tonight or tomorrow.

This is assuming they're not coming back tonight. It's 3-0.

They're clearly not getting any points tonight, so we have to hope they get at least a point tomorrow.

I’m not worried about the flames playing Dallas at all playoffs are a completely different beast

Still could happen. Just not terribly likely.

Both of those seem like entirely likely scenarios. It honestly would not surprise me in the least if in the one great season we’ve had since God knows when, where we don’t have to deal with the freaking Honda centre, the Stars somehow thread the needle to give us a first round matchup just as bad.

If I were Dallas or Colorado I’d be hoping for Winnipeg. That team is ripe for the picking.

If Dallas is playing terrible hockey going in to be losing to Chicago and Minnesota, then that's just easier pickins for us.

Horrible coverage by stars, Strome left all alone with Kudobin. 4-0

I’m guessing at this point Dallas isn’t too concerned about which Wild Card spot they snag, and if anything may prefer the option of playing The Flames. So wouldn’t read too much into their play in the last few games, not sure they are overly motivated.

Some people just love looking for hypothetical problems and convincing themselves that all is for not.

The Flames should and will beat either opponent in the first round, IMO.

I don't know, man. That team has owned us for a while now, particularly Benn and Seguin, who seem to feast on us every time we play them.

Not to mention the Stars often play trap hockey and like to clog everything up once they get a lead. The Flames have had trouble beating teams that play that style.

Well I think we’ll end up with two distinct problems. If we play Dallas people will be panicking about our ability to win against them when really we should fully expect that we are still the better team.

Then we’ll also have the crowd, especially if we play the AVS who will come with the narrative that a true contender would easily dismiss the AVS and will freak out if the series gets tight (which it will), but reality is we shoukd fully expect each round to be a battle, even if we are as good as our regular season record suggests.

You can discount Dallas beating the Flames 6 times in a row all you want but people being concerned about that matchup is valid.
