Great drinking game. Who gets back to the D zone the slowest from our third line forwards drinks a shot. I'll pick Czarnik. Anyone else who wants to play must have a very strong liver.

I'm not even sure how to rank these new abomination lines.

Gaudreau is playing with a fourth line center and a guy that was healthy scratched and may have demanded a trade - made worse by Frolik's penchant to throw everything on net without hesitation.

Monahan is playing with a tiny perimeter player and a veteran who has suffered through a nightmare season.

The fourth line that was working has been torn up in favour of an old AHL line.

The only line better is the 3M line with Lindholm.

Yeah, I see a clear top line — Tkachuk, Backlund and Lindholm.

And then two middle lines and a clear fourth line.

The MEM line will win the game by themselves. 21 point night for the line. You heard it here first.

That is one ugly looking third line. Don't see them lasting more than a period together.

I suppose the only option at top line RW is Frolik although not ideal.

You can't put neal up there because that will lead to johnny actually getting murdered as he has to stand still after crossing the blueline waiting for neal to catch up 12 seconds later and the stars D men can just whack and hit him as much as they want.

Ugh. Really wish monahan played with some moderate amount of edge to his game, it would level out the peaks and valleys if he could contribute in any possible positive manner during the dips in his production.

Maybe this is because of Benn and Seguin always torching is. Peters might think he now was two top six lines that can do a decent job of defending if the get trapped in their own end against the stars top line. We have last change, but he might feel this takes some pressure away from line matching

Wow so dramatic Bingo.

I think we can all put some faith in Peters at this point given all that he's accomplished with this group this season. These lines may start the game but they are unlikely to be the ones that finish it - something that has been a trend all year.

Nonetheless, it's a tremendous shot across the bow to the entire team that not even Monahan is untouchable as far as a being called out and demoted down the lineup for frequent and uninspired play. If all goes well I'd guess he is back on the top line by the second period because he's showed some fire and passion and all this slump business is a thing of the past.

This is a little unfair.

No centre on this team has produced more points than Ryan in the past 2 months (Backlund and him have the same amount of points at 17 and Monahan has 15 in that time) and Frolik has 15 points in his last 19 clearly one of our hottest wingers.

Is that not the point of this whole juggling experiment? Everything Peters has done this season leads me to believe this is a calculated maneuver to essentially put icy hot in Monahan's pants and get him playing with some urgency again. Once he responds it will back to business with Johnny.

It has to be a clear message to Gaudreau and Monahan, right? They've been playing poorly for too long.

Earlier in the year, they were playing with lots of pace, lots of pressure on the puck, and giving no time to the team in the other end. The last while, they have played slow, and too East/West. I would guess Peters wants them to play the way there were earlier. This is a wake-up call to get their attention, even if it is only for a few shifts to start the game tonight.

I think Peters’ description of the new lines from his post practice scrum yesterday was bang on.

He said something like, “we’ve got a line up configuration we know works well and has been successful all season, and we can always go back to that, but it can’t hurt to try something new so that we’ve got options.”

You never know how injuries will affect the line up in the playoffs and having a static lineup, with guys who have rarely played with different linemates, might not be the best thing if we’re forced to make changes to the lines come playoffs.

I’m not totally discounting the strong possibility that he’s doing it to jump start the offence, especially the top line. I just don’t think that’s the only reason Peters has made changes.

Isn't that the second time this week you've called me dramatic?

I never said I don't have faith in Peters, I never said there wasn't some method to his madness, never said they couldn't change them mid game, never hinted they wouldn't change them mid game.

Just said the lines don't look good to me.

The rest flipped out of your grey matter.

Anyone who calls Ryan a fourth-line centre is wrong and has always been wrong. He's been playing in that role here, but he would be in the top-nine on most teams and honestly should be here, too -- he's far better than Jankowski.

Six points in five games if both teams win. If the Flames finish those games 2-3-0, SJ has to win out to catch them.

Did anyone else get to sit in the corner behind a cardboard divider in their elementary school classroom?

My god, I loved my cardboard partition.
