1)it's a clear goal
2)it's a ####ing awesome goal
Those kind of reviews have always been part of the game; they're not going anywhere.
It's the offside renews and the goalie interference reviews that are a problem.

What a joke this has been as of late. Scrap it all together if you cant get the calls right, everything that has happened as of late seems that the NHL wants to the flames to lose.

As others have already said, the most important thing to institute is a time limit. You have refs on the ice for a reason. They made a call. Stand behind it. While we can gripe about penalties all we want, NHL officials are excellent with things like offsides and goalie interference in real time.

This is the age of HD; you can count the follicles in Sam Bennett's moustache if you're so inclined. Anyone hemming and hawing after 90 seconds and multiple angles of HD video can't then reasonably argue the call on the ice is incorrect.

I'm all for getting stuff right within reason. Goal reviews can take a little longer. But for offsides/goalie interference, refs shouldn't be able to take five minutes to convince themselves that there really are five lights.

I like the rugby system. That looks like the simplest solution and I really think the use of social media to explain and add transparency would go a loooooooooooong way toward improving the image of the NHL. Not just for the fans but also for the NHL's push into enabling more gambling.

It was my first time learning about it so thanks for the share Jethro.

This is my preferred solution since '04. NHL needs to bring in Hawkeye (or something similar) to handle the linesman jobs and validate the goal line. Then the linesman on the ice can be converted into full referees.

I would also add the off ice officials. And maybe remove the center red line from the game to speed things up and simplify the number of lines the system needs to monitor. (Icing would be from the blue line)
