I don't know what is more weird:

Canning your coach so quickly after the trade deadline, in a season where many people assumed your team would be near the bottom of the standings and going to rebuild, and especially giving the coach a public vote of confidence on the same day

or

Hiring Marc Crawford to coach

It's a toss up. That's why bad teams stay bad - they make bad decisions on the management/coaching side of things, and it eventually trickles down to the product on the ice. In Ottawa's case, it trickles down from the owner, just like in Edmonton's case. They really are the Edmonton of the East lately, aren't they?

This.
Melynk had the distraction of his downtown arena preoccupying him most of this season. With that officially flushed down the toilet two days ago, he wanders back to check on his team, they lose to the Oilers, he has his mind made up on the reasons as to why, and fires the coach for those reasons, almost for as much as for something to do in a lost season, as anything else.

Sid (of Tim and Sid not Sidney Crosby) with another epic rant. Starts at 520ish but he really hits his stride by the 11 min mark.

every available coach position is Q's if he wants it. Why in the world would he want that one?

The Seattle job? I think it will likely be a top destination with how successful Vegas has been.

I imagine that most coaches would relish the opportunity to be part of building something, and with the expansion rules this is a fantastic opportunity to build something quickly.

What he said. Being in on the GM's decisions froma coaching perspective, not a lot of pressure, excited fans, what's not to like. A pretty liveable city too.

I'd say the Sens and their fans are in big trouble. It seems pretty clear now that Bryan Murray (RIP) was the only guy in the organization capable of keeping looney toon Melnyk at bay. They've been steadily sliding into owner driven chaos since he unfortunately had to step away, and even more unfortunately passed on.
