Before OT, my wife said the Flames weren't very good at OT because they lost against Buffalo.

Thank you Backlund for proving her so very, very wrong!

Heck of a play by Backlund who has had himself quite a good stretch lately. Bad game though overall by the rest of the team. Carolina definitely came to play tonight and could’ve easily won. But what a half by this team and they deserve every bit of rest they’ll get this week. Rest up and get back to the final sprint to the playoffs after the break.

just a great move by Backes on the winner...

Calgary was out of sorts for the first couple of periods, seemed to come on in the third... thought their goalie made 3 rittichoulous saves though, otherwise Calgary would have been comfortably ahead...

Signs of life from Neal it seemed like? Positive sign i am hoping...

did AZ jump Edmonton?!

Nope. That's not how I saw this one.

The Hurricanes carried and controlled the puck a lot, and they took a lot of shots. The Flames took over in the third period. I would bet scoring chances were pretty even if not favouring the Flames by a small margin. Carolina caught two posts, but the Flames had one of their own, two missed wide-open nets, and a handful of other great chances forcing Mrazek to make dazzling saves.

It wasn't pretty, but I thought both teams were probably also a little unlucky.

Not the prettiest of games, but the 2 points is all that matters before a long break. GFG!!

Gutsy win. I thought i saw a stat where Carolina is leading shots per game but only 20 something in goals per game. So yes a lot of long range or not high quality chances. If Flames could have capitalized on those Mrazek saves this game doesnt go to OT.

Gio scores on his chance or Johnny scores in third instead of post, or Mono scores on one of his great chances, and it's over earlier, so full credit to Mrazik... and or if Hanifin doesn't make a silly shot at an empty net it doesn't go to OT.

So just a deserving as Carolina if not more, and good to get 2 points. It really doesn't affect how they are going to come back in 10.days so get the points if they are there.
