Good riddance dougie. Guarentee he makes more than a few bone headed plays that we capitalize on tomorrow.

Just curious when we're all going to refer to him as 'Douglas' instead of the child friendly 'Dougie'? The man is 25 years old!

The only reason anyone would boo Hamilton would be out of frustration for the unrealized potential of the Glue Gun era Flames and maybe some misplaced frustration that Hamilton was not the player in his own end that people wished he was. Completely nothing at fault with Hamilton. Much has been publicized about Freddie and what role Dougie had in his opportunity here, but no one on the outside really knows what happened.
It would be a black eye on our fan base if he was booed tomorrow night.

Dougie is his name, It's what his family calls him.
Who cares about this stuff anyhow?

I don't think anyone questioned Hamilton's character as a human being. It was his character as a hockey player that was questioned which seems fair.

I think these are feelings I would likely have in his shoes.

Just my opinion with no corroboration from anything. I think Dougie is just one of those players that has enormous skill and talent but doesn't really care about being the best and winning at all costs (that separate gear that few superstars have). Happy to play the game he loves, collect a giant paycheck and do the things he wants to do. He likely knows that he'll be traded throughout the league several times before he's done. Again, nothing to back this claim, just my thoughts.

Dougie gets dumped on around here, damn! He was one of my favourite players while here. I would be super disappointed if he was booed tomorrow.

So you go to a game and boo for almost half the time? Never seen that from a fan before and I have probably gone to about 500 games live before I moved away and had to get rid of my season tickets.
So when Bogdan Kiselevich comes to town and touches the puck you just start booing like crazy?

That quote would fit for Dougie anytime in the past 6 years. So glad he's not our problem anymore

Nah. Everybody knew it was GG.
Part of the defence clicking again has been getting Brodie back on the right side. Brodie on the left not clicking with Hamonic was more of a detriment than anything Hamilton did in his tenure. Those square peg decisions were on coaching.
Dude had a 17 goal, 50 point season. People are going to boo him? I hope not.

- The only real knock was supposedly having a different personality than the majority of professional athletes and was more of a family guy than most.
- Due to his play while with the flames, was able to fetch a big return that has us in the position we are today.
- During some frustrating times as a flames fan, he created some fun in the post-game interviews.
- Although not in his control, he was good enough for Calgary to enter the sweepstakes when Edmonton appeared to be the front runner to get him. Calgary and Edmonton could be very different teams today had this trade went to Edmonton.
I will personally be embarrassed for the fan base if Dougie is booed for literally doing nothing wrong and being the piece that has made this team what it is.
Ferland deserves a standing O and as much as I wanted to see the flames acquire him for this playoff run, it sounds like he enjoys being out of the spotlight in Carolina and I hope he gets exactly what he wants and isn't forced to be a suitcase for the next 6 months.
Someone who had as big of a part at the Childrens Hospital as Dougie did in such a short period of time should not be booed.
Someone who played up to and beyond their potential during a year of players playing well below potential should not be booed
|
sorry but why exactly does Ferland deserve a standing ovation? You've lost me on that one.
That guy has to be the most overrated player the Flames have ever had on CP, which is a high bar.
Ferland had a really great playoff round against the Canucks which, subsequent to, he was injured. After returning from that season, he was a shadow of his former self and never took on that physical role which made the Flames successful during that playoff series. He didn't score at a pace that a top liner should but was put in over his head, not really his fault. But he regularly lacked consistency in his intensity game in and game out. In fairness, so did the entire team I guess.
Still, pretty far cry from "standing ovation" territory unless I'm missing something. He's not Jarome Iginla.
