Don't hate on Roberto Romano just because he's 5'6 and his leg pads weigh 17 pounds each...

At the beginning of the season it was a tie between all the players. Then Tkachuk had 100% of the goals. Then he and Monahan had 50% each.
Then on to game two...

Maybe points per game is a better way to measure.

So that's probably a good estimate?

Gotta adjust for era. See how Iggy's not even on that list (because of the dead puck era).

Fair comment.
Maybe compare their best year point total? Compare the the singular best season?
I will say that until JG adds a deep run or two into the playoffs it will be hard for him to bump some of those players off the list.

As far as pure talent offensively Kent Nilsson is #1 with Gaudreau/Fleury and even Huselius somewhere behind him.
If its greatest overall/complete players to wear the flaming C of all time its Iggy at 1 and then an assortment of guys behind in any variance of order and Gaudreau among those guys.
If he keeps this up for another 5 or 6 years as a member of this team, then i think he will rank #1 or 2 unquestionably....but thats a LONG way away.

Makarov would have Gretzky point totals if he started his career in the NHL. 2000 points easily.

Scoring Winger

Iggy and Johnny are different players yet similar. The similarity is that both WANT to win. The difference is to WIN, that in an end to end rush, one goes literally through 5 defenders and one goes around 5 defenders.
One had to do it by himself and one could do it by himself but has other weapons.
I'm just glad we are having this discussions and hopefully every 10 years or so. This would mean we would be blessed by having unique players displaying their skills in Flames silk.
But if you need to have a winner, we would have needed an "edge-of-the-seat" counter to register which one would get us there on during the game.
EOTS/game!

Kent Nilsson is ahead of just about everybody in that category. Probably top ten all time.

Iginla's records actually belong to himself and the d-men that were constantly waterskiing behind him.

The problem with this is comparing eras and the age of the guy rating them.
If you're under the age of 40 you can't possibly have an opinion on this, or your dad has a super VHS collection of many Ed Whalen called games.
If you're over 40 you have eye test, but you also are likely falling victim to nostalgia and with that are over valuing previous era players.

Super VHS wasn't a thing until 1991...
I still remember bits of the first game vs the Quebec Nordiques! Was severely disappointed Dan Bouchard wore a Mike Vernon mask instead of his greatest goalie mask of all time!

Why isn't Elias Lindholm on the PPG list, Johnny is in fact 10th and Elias is 4th all-time at 1.136/ppg, much smaller sample size but these are his numbers as a Flame.

It is difficult to compare eras so my criteria for ranking all time Flames forwards is how many times they led the team in points. This measures who the best player was for the longest amount of time.
Looking at Flames points leaders every season there are 4 names that pop out: Iginla (12), Fleury (7), Nilsson (4), and Gaudreau (4*). This puts Gaudreau on par with Nilsson and on his was to passing Fleury. He even has a chance to catch Iginla if he re-signs.
I think this even sells Gaudreau's talent a bit short though and predict at the end of his career we will instead be asking where he ranks on the list of all time greatest players to ever wear a Flames jersey. A list including Jagr, Hull, Gilmour and Iginla.
*includes Gaudreau leading this season.

Johnny can hockey. but could he hockey in Iggys era? Iggys era Iggy could hockey in Johnnys era. same with any of the previous greats.
I like johnny, he may yet become the best Flame ever. But as of today, I'm calling Monahan the guy we will all remember for being a career flame and top shelf point producer. He'll be the best Center the Flames ever had.

When its all said and done, it will be interesting to see where this goes especially if he signs a 2nd contract with the Flames (well technically 3rd if you include the ELC).

Iggy didn't win anything either...Johnny is certainly ahead of his pace
