Been a frustrating couple games from the second pairing.

Poor defense no doubt but Smith played that about as poorly as possible. Playing too deep in his net and committed way too early. There was no reason to go down before the toe drag. Helm really just shoveled the puck into the centre of he net.

Rittich makes that save fairly easily.

If Smith comes out to challenge, then Helm passes and its a wide open net.

Replay - that was really sneaky by Helm. Looked like a short side shot for the longest time, so that's how Smith played it, he freezes Smith with that look and then makes a last second move to the backhand.

If it's Johnny we say it's a gorgeous move.

Bad at both ends by the D.

The team shutdown the pass, the shooter is Smith’s.

Not going to blame Smith, as the team gave up a high quality chance - but Smith is free to make a huge, team-saving stop anytime he wants...other NHL goalies do it on the regular.

Hopefully he keeps the door shut from here on out.

Can't blame Smith, thats not a bad goal to give up. Stoppable for sure, but not a softie.

Disagree. Smith has let in plenty of bad ones, it that was a great move by Helm. It freezes most goalies.

In the same way we've seen Johnny multiple times this season. Watch the replay and imagine him playing further out of his net... his positioning was just fine.

Flames are losing track of pucks, not connecting more than one pass at a time. Getting spun around a lot and chasing the play.

Hamonic should just focus on playing shut down right now, as much fun as I'm sure he had sniping a goal the other night.

Team looks like they're looking past Detroit a little but of course they'll pick it up at some point.

Detroit has been playing pretty good hockey of late; Calgary needs to step it up

Easy to criticize a goalie for a wrong choice with hindsight. There was two attackers and one defender. No matter of it was Rittich the chances were considerably higher what happened was going to be what happened.
