Dave Scott said that Joel Quenneville’s name came up immediately when Chicago let him go, but Hextall wanted to keep on his path. Quenneville may be an option now, but it will be up to the new general manager. #Flyers

Come on Leah! Cheer for us!
Also we need a new goalie coach so bring Ron with you. I think I could stand to watch Big Save Dave hack some Oilers.
Then Edmonton's complaints would at least be somewhat legitimate.

She's on record as being a flames fan I think. I think she lives here (or has a sister that lives here) and was at a christmas game in Calgary a few years ago wearing a Flames toque.

I have a big crush on her, and it's not because of her looks (although not not either). She was just so refreshing to listen to during intermissions, and that infamous pen smack and "well I'M saying it" was so ridiculously awesome, she stole my heart that day.
I can't believe SN let her go. She actually had me, and the people I sometimes watch games with, watching intermissions instead of flipping to some other game or whatever.

Vegas Effect IMO
Can't remember if it was Lebrun or Friedman last year who mentioned that Vegas having so much success in year 1 was embarrassing to some owners, and that it put some of the GMs stating that rebuilds take time on the hot seat.
Looks like Philly may be example number 1.
They had a GM that was doing the smart thing (IMO) and trying to rebuild through the draft. But that ownership group looks at Vegas and wonders why the team isn't able to make a contender out of the scrap heap.

Doubt Johnny would be the "type" of player they are targeting.
From Friedman earlier....

Around 24 hours before the announcement Hextall was gone, one executive said there was no way Holmgren could stand Philadelphia’s 6-0, penalty-free loss in Toronto on Saturday. Remember when the late Ray Emery fought Braden Holtby? That was Nov. 2013, after Holmgren (then the GM) went into the dressing room during the second intermission with the team down 6-0 to Washington. He gave it to the players, lecturing them for accepting defeat without passion. Holmgren’s not looking for Mel Bridgman, Don Saleski and Jimmy Watson to be charged by Ontario’s Attorney General like in 1976, but he wanted more edge.

I'd hate to lose Conny, but at the same time I'd have no trouble wishing good things on him and seeing his post-player career progress.

In defense of Scott and Holmgren, look what Treliving has done. He didn't sit around and wait for the rebuild to ripen on its own, he traded picks for Hamilton, he traded picks for Hamonic, he traded picks for Smith. He spent to the cap.
He pushed the rebuild forward, as hard as he could. And I, for one, am very pleased that he did.
Also: Leah, you are welcome here!

I would hate to lose Conroy too but I’d also love to see him get a shot. One of, if not the nicest guy I’ve ever talked to. He’s worked hard and earned his dues. It’s about time he gets a GM position.

Is it just me or does Brian Burke seem like the perfect match for the Flyers?

If anyone in the league is using Vegas as a comparable of how to put together a team.... they need to be canned. Or if they somehow thought that team was a ‘scrap heap’. It was far from that, with a little Cinderella story magic.

I’d accept an offer of Patrick, Provorov, Hart, and three 1sts. ... actually, four 1sts.
Make it four 1sts and a 2nd, Hart’s kinda getting lit up in the AHL.
