So, living on the East Coast and having a toddler that is up between 6:00am-6:30am every day, it makes the 11:00pm (8:00pm MST) games really difficult.
Think we could start a petition to have every home game start at 5:00pm Calgary time?

So, living on the East Coast of Australia and having to work from 9-5 weekdays, it makes the 2:00pm (8:00pm MST) games really difficult.
Think we could start a petition to have every home game start at 11:00 pm Calgary time?

Late starts work well for me. Being in the oilfield a lot of days I'm not done work till 6:30-7. If games started at 5 I'd probably miss 25% of the games every year.

It's super crappy that every market in the country has the choice between these two games while we in the Vancouver area are force-fed the Canucks.

It's considered a National game so it will not be blacked out in BC.

Valimaki's pretty bad about it though. Even last game, it was his penalty that got Hamonic in the box.

Jets are probably the only Canadian team outside of Calgary I want to succeed. Hoping this is a preview of this years WCF!
5-4 Calgary in OT with Brodie winning it!
Big test for the PK tonight, we need to stay clear of the box!

I can't say I want them to succeed. But Winnipeg is one of a few NHL teams I don't hate. It could be the style of play, coaching and management that make us hate another team (e.g. Edmonton, Anaheim, Vancouver and alike). Or it could be a specific player that is really unlikeable (e.g. Kesler, Lucic, Perry, Marchand, Brown etc...). So, if Winnipeg is playing Toronto in a SCF, I'd cheer for Winnipeg, but only because I dislike Toronto more.

A bit of a loose high stick all right. If they take one the Flames need to take away that Scheifele shot. Let them try and feed Laine way over on the side.
When I look at the stats, Calgary is 20th in pm per game. Of course, that stat includes offsetting, so it's not 100% useful. Winnipeg is number one And Calgary's tied for fourth in drawing penalty minutes

I hate Winnipeg, though not as much as the other western Canadian teams or Toronto. It has to do with their fans and how they self-describe themselves as long suffering (because they couldn't keep their team). I dislike the cheap ass whiteout. And I don't like Buf - he's a goof. I don't really like the Laine hype. I can do without Trouba.
On the other hand I like Scheifele and Wheeler. So there's that.

Good test for the Flames. I would have replaced Hathaway with Peluso as Hathaway seems to be slowing down a bit again. Jets are a big team anyway, but Hathaway is a guy you need to keep hungry. I also think Czarnik for Dube, but I guess the Flames are trying to decide if he sticks or goes down.
Jets are an interesting team. Loads of depth, very good high-end talent as well. They usually disappoint. I wonder if it is the mix in the room, or if they need an upgrade in coaching.
Regardless, Flames blow-out the Jets tonight. 7-1.

Yeah I hear ya, for me it's less team/city dynamics and more because one side of my extended family is originally from the area before moving to Calgary 30+ years ago. My grandpa is their biggest fan and is 80 this year. Think it would be pretty special to see a series featuring Calgary and Winnipeg before it's to late for him! I would love that.

Same here. I try to follow the GT throughout the afternoon and then watch the game when I get home.
Sometimes I'll stream the game on my phone (NHL.tv subscription) when I need a 5 minute break.
Anyway, big test for the Flames -- hopefully they can play their game and win.

This is the first true measuring stick game where they aren't starting with a disadvantage by having smith in net (sharks)
The Jets could win the west. Flames need to show they can play with them and carry on with the energy from the past two games. And show that they can get on a roll.
Want to see rittich solidify himself as the 1a and relegate smith to spot starts on back to backs and against lesser opponents.

Jesus.
Does nobody remember that we shut out Nashville, the absolute best team in the league, in their building, the hardest building to play in in the league, with Smith in net? Memories around here sure are short.

I get what you are saying. I think in the minds of many though, there's a difference between the games now and the games early in the season.
Flames are playing the Jets as everyone expects them to be, not early season Jets or early season Preds. The Jets are also playing well, as are the Flames.
This is a good test for the Flames.

Today I kissed my 20s goodbye. So, a 3-0 win would be nice.

It was an early season game doesn't really have the same significance as this now that teams are settled in
