I noticed it too. Like one leg was moving faster than the other almost. Hopefully that is the case and it's getting better

I can find a link to it if people want, but there was an article from a Denver sports blogger talking about how this exact thing.

Other teams and fans are scared when Johnny is on the ice. Not bad for 5"9

There must be some league order to protect the goalies from extra wacks or something, I've noticed a lot of fast whistles this year in the games I've watched, not just Calgary. Not fun to watch but if that is the case I suppose I get it
