BINGO! This is the reason why Tre could and should get canned. These were bad signings and the average hockey fan could see it, but Tre could not. Troy was Gully's downfall, James will be Tre's. Too much money tied up on a player that is old, slow, doesn't fit in, wasn't needed and can't play goalie.

I didn’t realize the season ended last night. Went by quick this year.

Brad should've picked up Raanta or Grubauer.
Gotta set the position up for the future too. This rotating door of middling vet starters that have seen their best seasons has to end.
I don't like how short term Brad was focused with Smith. Put all his money on Rittich or Gillies emerging as NHL 1B quality tender in a 2 year window which was always unlikely.
Rittich is showing flashes and we may need him to take half the starts from Smith at this point but he doesn't look great when he's given the reigns from what we've seen.

Idunno guys, Sigalet played pretty well on Tuesday and Sunday. Hopefully he can shake off this last outing and get into a groove.

Nope, the signing was universally applauded by fans on CP, the media and around the league alike. I'm the first to admit it doesn't look very good right now, but lets not pretend everyone was crapping all over it. It was the COMPLETE opposite, and we can all go back on the signing thread to confirm that.
At some point the player has to take responsibility. Although I thought it was a year too long, it's 100% on Neal to perform. Can't really blame the GM for filling in the biggest hole on the roster, only to have said filling #### the bed.

The fact he scored was maybe the only bright spot for me (I only watched the first period, so I didn't see the goal). Was it a laser or are you being sarcastic?
I also heard he got robbed earlier by Murray.

Even though the goal was a fluke, you hope that him potting one gets him going. So that late goal is a positive

No, it wasn’t a laser. Just was having fun. They all count the same and they don’t have to be pretty.
Hopefully like Jiri says a fluke goal gets the monkey off his back

Here is the poll from before we acquired him. Out of 625 votes, Smith had 35 (or 5%). I recall voting for Raanta.

Is this what it is going to be like every time the Flames lose two in a row?

Probably depends how they lose them.
These weren’t normal losses that happen despite the team being competitive, right?

Is it me or Mike Smith should start wearing white pads for home games? 'Coz that worked for Brian Elliott.
Why no has one of thought of this surprises me.

I’m still pretty excited about this season given the whole context, but since the early stages of the offseason I’ve been a little worried about Smith. My prediction a few months ago was that the team would be pretty good, but that we’d be sunk by goaltending in the form of a total performance fall-off, or a Smith injury. Not only is he not performing all that well at the moment, but it also appears that he strains several ligaments every time he makes a save. Makes me nervous.
