I don't see people getting hyper defensive. I do see a few people saying i isn't at all funny, but that's about it.

Oh they will learn to like it very soon if the first halves of the San Jose and Edmonton games are an indication of what we can expect.

The article writer appears to be a rabid Oilers fan judging by her virtual drooling over McDoofus.
Makes more sense if you think of it that way. She put the No Goods in the "maybe" category and us in the "boring trash" category.

Sure. Do you believe the Flames are realistically among the worst teams in the NHL? Anything can happen, but I will be surprised if they end up fifth in the Division. Does that make me a homer?

Last year sucked, actually the last few years sucked. But the Flames have new faces this year and a new coach; got rid of some useless baggage as well. Let's see how it goes for the first 20 or so games before making any rash emotions. Can't wait til the season starts

Probably.
It's certainly pretty possible that LA, ANA, SJ, and LV are the top four teams again this season.
I wouldn't call it a surprise by any means if the division plays out like that.
It wouldn't be surprising if it plays out differently either, but that is a different topic.

Yeah, the CP Moderators are just censoring the hell out of any posts that don't tow the party line.

Huh. How about that. I wondered about the appropriate word to use while constructing that sentence, and couldn’t see how “toe” made much sense. But apparently...
”It is common practice in many long-established schools for roll-call to be taken twice a day, at which the pupils line up with their toes exactly along a particular line on the floor, while their names are called out for them to respond to, indicating their presence.”
Who knew?

And just like that, this thread has earned a little merit.
Now the mods can lock it.

Idioms are an odd lot, aren't they? I'm fascinated by them, especially in other languages. It's very interesting asking my wife equivalents (in terms of intent) of what common English ones would be in Mandarin.

I never said a word about moderators. I was referring to the holier than thou posters such as yourself who talk down to everyone who doesn't drink the kool-aid.

Seriously, get over yourself. How is pointing out that I find parts of a stupid, and poorly executed satirical article about NHL teams in any way construed as "holier than thou," or "drinking the kool-aid"?
I have said this now three or four times, and will say it again, just so you manage to finally get it: I don't have a problem with criticism of the Calgary Flames. I also do not have any problems with roasts or sarcasm directed at the Calgary Flames. This article is not funny, it is not especially clever, and significant portions of it are unbalanced and obviously poorly researched and not well thought out. I don't particularly enjoy ANY writing that succumbs to such low-brow and lazy construction. The fact that I do not like this article does not make me—nor anyone else who might be critical of its content—a homer, or especially biased in any way.
I'm done with this.
