I'm not sure about that either but perhaps yeah.

My guess (and that's all it is) on who the final cuts will be: Gilles, Valimaki, Prout, Peluso, Mangiapane.

Well your confidence level in them is irrelevant. I think management and coaches have more faith in them than some of the fans do. Not much reason to think Glass would be a better option except grass is greener thinking

Another question is whether Prout and Peluso are fighting for one tough guy/popcorn muncher spot or if they might keep both of them around? If they only keep one player for that role, you'd think the forward would have the edge because losing him for five minutes due to a fight doesn't make as big a difference as it does for a d-man.

True. But you could also argue Prout gets the edge since he’s less of a liability when playing a regular role.

Peluso can make the team as a 14th forward, and that doesn't get in the way - even if their is a game-day injury, you have a 13th forward and a guy like Peluso isn't forced into the lineup.
However, your defensemen have to be able to play. Prout won't be kept as a face puncher, he has to earn it as a #7 D. Because the #7 D can and will be forced into the lineup occasionally.

Is it wrong to suggest sending both Gillies and Rittich down and picking up Jordan Sparks if the Leafs don't waive McBackup?
I think it would send an appropriate message about not coming to camp wanting to fight for a job. Having said that, my (and likely all of our) perception is highly skewed as we are judging all of our goalies on a couple of games where they see a type of "mistake based chances" that rarely happen in a regular season game.

I think what makes the most sense for the forwards is to keep one of Dube or Mangiapane. These two have earned the 12th forward spot.
Waive Lazar and send him to Stockton. This is actually the best move for him. He needs to go play big minutes in the AHL and rediscover his scoring touch. Being a 4th line plugger in the NHL for the past few seasons has really hurt him career wise I think.
The 13 and 14 forward spots should be for Hathaway and Peluso. When you need a deterrent, Peluso goes in for Dube/Mangiapane. If you want something in between those extremes, you put in Hathaway.

Why not have two skilled extra forwards and keep Prout as your deterrent? I don't see why we should have more than one mostly-useless hockey player on this team. At least Prout has shown the ability to play full seasons in the past.
Jettison Peluso ASAP and keep Hathaway and a guy like Quine/Klimchuk as the extra forwards -- guys who have skill and who can play at both ends of the ice while also being at the stage of the development where it's ok if they sit in the press box. Of course, management clearly can't do that because they're so obsessed with having utterly useless (or close to it) guys like Lazar and Peluso around that they have already demoted both of those clearly superior players. Hell, even Hathaway has VERY limited use.

LOL - sweet.. she can sing to the other team. I think the correct spelling is "Jordin" haha
If the winner of American Idol can't save our goaltending, no one can.
I think you meant Garret Sparks - he can stop pucks.

Nope...I meant Jordin. I am trying to send a message, letting her play net would send that message...Garret would be an improvement on both...but would certainly not send the same message....
Fair call on everyone who called me out on a clearly incorrectly typed post.

Be thankful that you accidentally posted a singer's name instead of accidentally posting a porn star's name.

I have to assume that Treliving talks to the players and they want a guy around when they play certain teams. Treliving is so process driven that he wouldn't have an inferior player that can fight for traditional reasons.

Except he had one named Tanner Glass for sixteen games last season.

Dansk has played 4 NHL games and 56 NA pro games.
It's hard to make definitive conclusions based on those sample sizes. IMO they are all in a very large group of goalies who might be decent but have yet to prove anything in the NHL.
