Yes it will be interesting. I can’t see there being to much leniency from a lot of fans, despite the additions and changes of the coaching staff. All these moves that Tre made, indicate that he wants the team to win, and to win now. On paper this team looks poised to start making some deep runs. You hear it in the player interviews that they feel, after all these moves that it’s time to start winning and going for a cup run.

I myself will give some leniency if there’s some early growing pains this season but admittedly will get very anxious if they’re not corrected by mid season. I feel that this team should at least make it in this year, even if there is some signs of growing pains. They just look like they’re going to be too damn good. But I feel like I’ve had this thought before

Jets missed the playoffs the year before last and hadn't won a playoff game in FRANCHISE history before this past season. It wasn't really a slow build at all.

The players looking/sounding collectively hungry and healthy does make a potential run seem imminent. Adding a guy to your top line that just came off the SC finals only helps with that.

The top players should carry them as long as Brodie can hold his own and goaltending is adequate. The only thing I can see realistically holding them back is if they're bleeding goals as heavily as their newfound scoring punch can provide them.

That’s what I’m saying. It took that group a while until they made some noise and went to the WC finals

That was the season that Bertuzzi, langkow, and bourque all got hurt within a 2-3 week span I think as well... basically all of the secondary scoring on the team. Before that brutal injury stretch the flames were one of the most dominant teams in the league that season. They slipped down the standings and limped into the playoffs after that.

I like this line up down the middle. If Lindholm is a stronger center than Ryan, keep him there.

Having a chat with my son’s coach, he shared an idea I like for splitting line time by O and D zone starts, instead of 1-4. So you end up with O zone start line 1/2, and D zone start line 1/2.

Backlund and Lindholm lines would give you a great D zone 1/2. Monahan/ Jankowski an elite 1, and developing 2 O zone.

If we're putting Bennett on the 4th line, just trade him already.

Give the kid a real chance to succeed playing with skill, in a top 9 spot. It's his contract year, i expect he comes out hungry.... Let's see what he can do.

I agree that I would like to see Bennett given more opportunity and not less. Same with Jankowski. Maybe Derek Ryan could be a good fit with those two. He and Janko could split face-off duties. His skill in the dot should help that line start with the puck more often which could help them be more productive. Or Frolik could give that line some better possession and defensive ability. Alternatively, I think czarnick, Foo, or Mangiapane could push for a roster spot and give that line some added jump.

Tkachuk and Neal together could be a wicked duo and I think they would elevate Jankowski’s game both with their skill and with how they raise the emotion of the game when they are on the ice. Janko could use that.

Meanwhile, Bennett gets reunited with the line that he had his best season.

So many line combos could work. It’s exciting.

I think Jankowski has the potential to score 25+ goals if he’s in the right spot. There’s times when he’s using his size, strength, and speed to dominate a game... especially when Jagr was on his line. And then stretches where he goes quiet. I think having Tkachuk and Neil would be a great fit because they bring an energy/compete level that Janko would be sucked into. Though I still think Bennett could take his game to another level that would make him and Janko compliment each other in the same way.

If one of Jankowski or even magically Bennett can make a huge leap and nab that #2 centre role away from Backlund, that forward group would be a force. Its good already, don't get me wrong.

I have no idea what Jankowski's ceiling is but with his age and an NHL season under his belt, I don't think its out of the question that he takes a giant leap this year.

A Tkachuk-Jankowski-Neal line where Jankowski is not a rookie passenger, but a contributing member is something to get excited about.

Yes. Jankowski at 2C is foolish optimism in my books. Taking Stemit's lines and just changing the C's:

That fourth line is pretty damn skilled and can be given very cushy offensive minutes, as the middle six is perfectly capable of taking all the tough assignments and zone starts.
