Other side of the mountains...is the weather very different to Okanagan?
Very similar as they both get sunny hot summers and cloudy, mild winters. The average high temps in Spokane are a little higher and the low temps not quite as low which is expectable considering Spokane is on the south side.
The weather isn't that bad, it is the season confusion that bothers me.
I have been in a snow storm literally every month of the year in Alberta, that included July and August.
This summer so far has been grand and to be honest the winter didn't bother me, the snow for skiing was great as well.
Summer is pretty good, winter unless it’s brutally cold like last year but sunny skies help a lot, fall is a crapshoot but often quite nice. It’s spring that drives me crazy - we don’t really have one. Winter hangs around too long and otherwise is 3 months of brown. Nice weather often doesn’t come reliably until June. A couple years ago we had a brilliant spring but it’s the only one I recall in my 20 years here.

Sounds about right. My only memory of Spokane was driving through it on a family roadtrip was being stopped at a light and seeing a man get out of his car with a big knife to go confront a man with a smaller knife. The light turned green before my young brain could be fully traumatized.

Yeah that's exactly it.
I usually tell visitors to visit Calgary almost any time of the year, but to avoid March to mid May.
Here on the East Coast of the US, lots of you would be shocked to find out how brutal the weather is most of the time. In DC the summers are just straight up muggy, humid and hot from May to end of September. Most summer days it's just downright hazardous to be outside for an extended period of time. The rain and clouds rival what they get in Vancouver most of the year. You can go weeks without seeing the sun. Winter is no better. The wind, clouds and dampness make it feel much colder than it actually is. I had visitors from Calgary during Christmas last year that thought they could tough out the winter here. They ended up staying at home for the full two weeks because of how uncomfortable it was.
I would take Calgary's weather any day over this.

Reminds me of the Highway 40 shooter up near Grande Prairie...scary.

There's a lot of white trash and crime in Spokane. A buddy and I were walking downtown one day and ended up smack in the middle of a police chase where a bunch of officers came running out of an alley all directions chasing down some criminals. It was pretty surreal.
I am trying to learn the names of the mountains on the skyline. Does anyone have an infographic or picture with labels? the only one I know is Devil's head mountain. It would be nice to know them all.
