Sure you can, in the grand scheme of things, is it worthwhile to engage the idiot, and basically encourage it.

Why even talk to the guy, just tell him to Frack off.

If he crosses the property line, escort him off.

But all your doing is playing this game, this isn't like bullying in school where there was a threat of physical violence so at one point you have to punch the bully in the nose or forever be beaten down.

He's irrelevant.

Frankly some people are enormous Aholes, and if you engage them, argue back, get in his face, you're giving him the sick thrill that he wants.

Since when do we worry about what an idiot says. He said something about a lesbian family member, if you go and lay him out, you might feel better for about 5 minutes until the police throw you in the back of a cruiser because someone that's wearing a MAGA hat and saying that would get more joy out of f'ing your life up with charges or lawsuits.

Obviously the guy is a complete idiot, but thinking about ways to retaliate, and taking time away from a Canada weekend to think about this tool gives him the power. You know what takes away his power. You BBQ'ing some ribs and burgers or having friends over and ignoring him. Not talking about him, or laughing at him, but making him irrelevant.

If he says something just simply say "Nobody gives a s%%% about what you have to say, now f off" and be done with it.

Hahahaha, "His hat offends Me" is one of the best OP's in a long time. Oh and that this is at your Lake Cottage. Poor you, theres first world problems then theres FIRST world problems.

Now if you would have opened about him being homophobic, and that in your opinion, the guy is a jerk, well we have all been there with neighbors but to admit that you are offended by his hat, are you not embarrassed buy this?

Just subscribe him to every LGBT And far LW news print you can think of and be done with it.

If he finds out just tell him that "you like getting a rise out of people too"

Well I guess if the OP has some British Friends he can ask them to go and burn down the guys house in a recreation of the 1814 burning of the white house.

Find some seeds and plant MJ in his flowerbeds. Order a lawn full of pink flamingos and pride flags anonymously. Basically take all the homophobic, racist, mysoginistic things Trump stands for and send him the flip side. I can't stand racist homophobes, but if there's one thing they all have in common it's the crazy, lunatic reactions they all have when it's in their faces.

There's soooooo much you can do to passive aggressively annoy the guy until he gets the hint no one likes him. And in the meantime you get to watch his explode when his latest edition of "Pride Weekly" arrives.

Ignore him is your best course of action.
Otherwise...
1. Host a pride lawn party
2. Get custom made personalized MAGA hats
Make America Gay Again and wear them at your cabin

But really just don’t interact with the individual. It’s not worth it.

Actually the only thing I would do if he crosses the line is to go and buy a huge American Flag and a Flag pole.

And run up the flag upside down.

Which is internationally recognized as a National SOS for a nation in distress.

Then leave it there.

You seem to reference some behaviour of his that is a lot more offensive than wearing the hat. Sure, the hat is annoying in any context, but I'm not sure why it is worse on Canada Day weekend. That seems to be an overly patriotic, almost American-like attitude. And he probably thinks of it as start of 4th of July week anyway.

This is really the answer.

Or you could analyze this rationally. This guy is in another country basically just celebrating his own ignorance and throwing it the face of others. This guy is a legit loser. Maybe he just needs a hug.

Find out what day he goes back to the US and put an anonymous phone call in to US customs that you think he’s smuggling drugs.

You lost me at "a new neighbour lately" and then "This ###### has been a thorn in my side for years".

Which is it?

Someone like that enjoys getting a rise out of people. If you respond, you are giving him exactly what he wants. Ignore him and go about your life, showing him how meaningless he is in the grand scheme of things.

As for the hat, it would be no big deal to me. When I see someone wearing one, all it does is lower my opinion of them. It's nice when people make it easy to spot the idiots.

I find a general sense of apathy towards peoples differences and not caring about what types of hats people wear usually helps me quite a bit.
