Weber's really only had one bad year, the last one. Which was super injury plagued. Before that he was a 40+ point guy who was +20. Maybe he's not the best in the world anymore, but he's still better than most, most of the time.
And Weber's real downfall is the length of that deal. 13 years, taking him to 40+ was always too much, and that's why Nashville is going to get savaged when Weber retires well before 40.
Doughty's deal is eight years and takes him to an age where, historically, the best defensemen in the game are still productive players.
Gio is in the same boat. Barring major leg injuries, neither player should be suffer a sharp decline - they're not going to get dumber.
