One of JVR or Neal would be nice as long as they aren't too expensive.

They're both going to be too expensive.

Definitely a homer offer by me.

Bennett + 19 1st + Kylington + Stone maybe ? Is it too rich?

I’d love Panarin on this team no doubt and I remember him showing interest in us initially before choosing Chicago but reports are that he wants to play in a big city like New York, Chicago or Vegas so I doubt we are involved.

The more I think about it the more I want us to look at adding one of those value guys Treliving mentioned earlier this week. A Frk or Czarnik to add into a competitive camp along with Mangiapane, Dube, Foo, Janko, Phillips. No need to go spending foolishly on a UFA now; we should be patient and allow some internal growth now too. If anything I’d like to see excess bottom 6 / bottom pairing players like Frolik, Lazar and even Stone dealt for futures if we find that the youth movement is pushing.

This trade really helps the depth up front and on the back end if you look at it; two core players who are going to be added for what appears to be a long time upgrading the wing and potentially upgrading the D with Noah Hanifin still young into his career.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it'd be incredible if they did it successfully, but I don't think they have the picks required to send Stone an offer sheet that he would accept unless they re-acquire their second-rounder back from the Islanders. Technically they have the picks to send Stone an offer sheet for $6,088,980 or less but is he really going to accept that? Anything above that (and below $10,148,303) requires that second pick.

If we trade Brodie, who plays with Gio? I think Hanifin is a LD just like Gio. Could Hamonic be a #2?
We have a solid base of defense, but I don't think anyone that could step into a top pairing role at the moment.

I would love to get Nino, but it can't be at the cost of a roster top 4 defenseman.

I think we'll see an upgrade on the bottom 6 forwards. A player with a bit of snarl who hates to lose (a la Tkachuk) and is a crash 'n' banger. Tkachuk can't be the only pest -- he's too talented and we need him on the ice, not in the box. That would go a long way towards upgrading team culture.

A bit of tinkering with the complimentary players might be in order.

If we could somehow unload Brouwers contract one player I’d like to see signed to a 2 year deal like 1.5 to 1.75 per is Ryan Reaves. Doesn’t play all the time but when you need the tough presence in the big games against the pacific belt teams and to intimidate rivals he would be a significant piece to add in that respect.

Thank you for posting this. Your lineup has me convinced even more so than before that a Neal and Reaves/Ryan/Versteeg? are incoming. The forwards on this team don't scream mental fortitude. This lineup still requires 1-2 of those pieces.

The following 5 players will rotate through two spots in the end I believe: Foo, Mangiapane, Brouwer, Shore, Lazar

Can't afford to carry a guy who can't score. Knights and penguins could because they have otherwise overwhelming offense.

Flames are already carrying Lazar who can't score at all and Hathaway is probably in the lineup as well. No room for Reeves.

Our bottom 6 needs a serious upgrade from last season

In an ideal world, Jankowski or Bennett (please I'm begging dude) are ready for 2nd line duty. That would allow us to have Backlund and Frolik play 3rd line and do a lot of tough work against top lines as well as penalty killing, while providing depth scoring we desperately need

Going into the season with a lineup like this gives us some solid depth:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Jankowski-UFA?
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
????-Shore-Foo
Hathaway-Lazar (Meh on both)

A lot of these guys can move around the line-up so there's a lot of line combos I can get excited about

I wouldn't mind seeing Versteeg come back. We noticeably lack any kind of toughness outside of Tkachuk and Hathaway (meh) so I think that's something we need to target to fill the couple empty spots

I think we make a minor signing or two on July 1st to bring in a bottom 6 guy. Someone like Riley Nash or Derek Ryan. I'd personally like to see us sign Austin Czarnik but I think we bring in a guy with a bit more NHL experience.

We'll see. The Flames have a number of RFAs they could decide to walk away from. Hathaway is definitely serviceable, but is by no means a sure bet.

After applying a generous amount of aloe vera to his butthole, I'm guessing another middle six RW with awesome character and an older stop gap back up.

I vote for a middle six guy that would add more goals too. I select no vowels: FRK

Another rw for sure though I don't know how they make it happen. Bump frolik down to the third line with janko and bennett and you have a fine top 9.

Sign someone who can actually play on the 4th line and fight or the flames are gonna get ####kicked this year.

Move Stone to the highest bidder. He is blocking rasmus now and makes too much for 3rd pairing. Would be a second pairing guy on some teams and should return a 2nd to remove the last burr in the saddle from the hamonic trade.

True, who knows.

If they decide they need 'that' element, he's better than Lomberg
